Do you want to help build a new English-language diploma engineer education in robotics technology? Are you passionate about developing a new program in close collaboration with skilled and engaged colleagues, students, and local companies? Then you might be the one we are looking for to support our students in the diploma engineer programs and in continuing and further education in Automation and Operation.

At Absalon you will have the opportunity to combine your experience from the robotics, automation or machine engineering field with teaching. At the same time you will leave your professional mark on the program content, laboratories and collaboration with industry.

Absalon will establish in September 2027 a new English-language diploma engineer program in robotics technology. The program focuses on the integration of robotics and automation solutions and an understanding of the whole production system in which the solution must function. The diploma engineer program in robotics technology is closely linked with the diploma engineer program in mechanical engineering as well as the continuing and further education at the academic level in Automation and Operating.

In the engineering programs, our ambition is to educate the best engineers in Denmark. We tailor our education to the labor market by closely collaborating with the Danish automation, mechanical and process industries, as well as companies and other actors in Biotekbyen Kalundborg and in the Campus Kalundborg collaboration. Read much more here.

Your profile

We are looking for an educator who is passionate about teaching at the interface between robotics technology, automation, production control and mechanical engineering. Therefore it is important that you can recognize yourself in the following:

Skilled and motivational teacher, who is engaged with the students. You contribute together with your colleagues to creating an active, professional and social study environment. It is important that you can contribute positively to the close professional relationship we have between teachers and students.

Contributes to making the theoretical, practical and collaborative aspects function well. We are more than a workplace, and you, like us, must be driven by strong camaraderie and a shared professional interest. You will consult with your colleagues about your teaching, and together we will find solutions to practical tasks.

You will also easily engage in dialogue with companies, both regarding opportunities for continuing and further education and regarding collaboration with students in the diploma engineer programs.

You are eager to join a work community and help establish a new education. We are building and continuously developing our engineering programs, and much must be done for the first time. You will have a central role in describing and building the new program in robotics technology and automation. Among other things, you will help to arrange and procure the right equipment for upcoming robotics and automation laboratories.

Your engineering expertise comes into play when you teach, guide and consult with colleagues within parts of the following areas:

  • Integration and programming of industrial robots, e.g. Universal robots, ABB, KUKA, FANUC
  • Industry 4.0
  • Siemens TIA-portal
  • Industrial networks
  • Vision systems and sensor technology
  • Safety systems and cyber security
  • CE marking and applicable standards for the field
  • Integration of AI in robot and automation solutions
  • PLC-, HMI- and SCADA solutions
  • CAD and 3D printing

In addition we expect that you

  • have a background as an engineer, e.g. robotics/automation engineer, production engineer, electrical engineer, mechanical engineer or similar
  • have relevant professional experience within the engineering field
  • can teach in English and preferably also in Danish
  • are preferably lectured as a lecturer
  • have insight into industry needs for engineering competencies in robotics and automation. This is not a requirement, but it would be an advantage.

Your tasks

As a teacher in the diploma engineer programs and in Automation and Operation, you will have a number of different tasks during a work week.

Build a program . You are interested in playing a central role in establishing a new program in robotics technology and possibly have a coordinating role in describing the program, developing a study rule, establishing student and company networks, and procuring equipment and arranging the laboratory. If you have experience with and interest in some administrative tasks, that would be an advantage.

Teach and supervise students on projects. You will primarily teach and supervise our students both theoretically and in laboratory- and project-based work within your subject areas. You must plan, carry out and evaluate the teaching yourself. You will also participate in the ongoing development of our teaching.

Teach in continuing and further education (EVU) and in undergraduate education. You will teach students on full-time studies as well as course participants with full-time work alongside their EVU education. For EVU teaching there may also be tasks involving outreach to companies and presenting the education offering.

Professional collaboration as part of everyday life. You will become part of a professional community where you consult and collaborate with your colleagues. Together you ensure, for example, to design good teaching programs, develop teaching materials, and perhaps there is an arrangement linked to the center that needs to be set up.

Teaching in the various education offerings will primarily take place at our Campus Kalundborg, but in the EVU area there may be teaching at Absalon’s campus in Roskilde. You should be prepared that some teaching may take place on weekends or in the evenings.

Your colleagues

You will be employed in the Centre for Engineering and Science, which runs the programs for Bioanalyst, Radiographer, Diploma Engineer in Biotechnology, Diploma Engineer in Mechanical Engineering as well as the continuing and further education Diploma Training in Biotechnology, Process Technology and Chemistry, Academy Profession Education in Automation and Operation, and Academy Profession Education in Innovation, Product and Production.

You will be part of a team with a program manager, adjuncts and lecturers. On our engineering programs in Kalundborg we are about 20 teaching staff. We work to create the best engineering education in close collaboration with the biotech industry in Nordvestsjælland, as well as our engaged students. We value high professionalism and solve tasks, and challenges in unity, where we are all aware of the importance of contributing to the community and to the center's overall objectives.

We are based in a newly built campus building from 2021 and in the neighboring building Helix Lab. Absalon is also part of the Campus Kalundborg initiative, where we work closely with five other educational institutions, and from 2028 we will be part of a new joint Campus Kalundborg building.

There may be a possibility of appointment as lecturer. Please indicate in your application which type of appointment you are seeking.

Appointments are made under the applicable state collective agreement.

  • For those who are newly graduated and are hired as adjuncts, an expected starting salary is 41,232 DKK incl. pension. For those who are an experienced teacher and are hired as a lecturer, an expected starting salary is 53,537 DKK incl. pension. There is the possibility to negotiate a qualification allowance based on qualifications and experience.
  • The position is full-time with appointment as of . January 1, 2027, very preferably earlier
  • If you have any questions about the position, you are welcome to contact the education manager Jesper Stensbo Knudsen, [email protected], 7248 3224

  • We expect to conduct interviews on an ongoing basis, but no later than weeks 47 and 48.

We hope that the staff reflects the surrounding society, and we therefore encourage all interested people regardless of gender, cultural and ethnic background to apply for the position.

For the position, it applies that you are hired as an adjunct or lecturer depending on your qualifications.

At Absalon the adjunct position is a 4-year educational position. We support this through Absalon's Lecturer Qualification program, which all newly hired adjuncts participate in, and where everyone gets assigned a supervisor. To be hired as a lecturer requires a positive lecturer assessment within the position's field of application.

When hiring lecturers who are lecturer-assessed before the 2013 position structure, employment is on the previously centrally set salary and employment terms. Depending on your qualifications, weighed against the specific content of the position, renewed lecturer assessment under the current position structure (fast-track scheme) may be agreed. Read more here in chapter 5.
