The culture school is facing a historic development. We will build a new culture school, develop new offerings and create even stronger communities around music, art and culture.

Therefore we seek an ambitious and visionary leader who will fight for culture's place in society and who insists on creating opportunities, even when the path there may be difficult. We are not looking for a leader who is satisfied with the status quo. We are looking for a leader who sees opportunities where others see limitations, and who persistently works to bring culture to even more children, young people and adults.

You see culture as more than teaching and leisure activities. You believe that culture creates communities, formation, well-being and quality of life. Therefore you work persistently to make culture accessible to even more people and to strengthen culture's place in both the local community and the political agenda.

Brønderslev Municipality is in the unique situation that over the next years a new culture school will be built. The school will become part of Fabrikken, a consolidated cultural centre of about 7,000 m2. You will therefore have a central role in shaping the new culture school and in opening the culture school even more to the world.

Kultur School for Brønderslev Municipality

As the leader of Brønderslev Culture School you will be responsible for about 20 dedicated employees, many of whom have conservatory and university backgrounds. The culture school offers teaching to both children and adults (as an evening course) and is a crucial piece in the municipality's cultural life – both through teaching, hosting concerts, as the organizer of Living Music in School and through projects in collaboration with schools, day-care centers, housing associations etc.

Children's and young people's lives are changing in these years. We need to experiment with new ways to organize culture school teaching to involve as many as possible. It is a big and important task. Therefore you, the staff and the rest of the management team must focus on how work with the cultural subjects can be strengthened in collaboration with e.g. schools and day care facilities.

Brønderslev Municipality is a development-oriented municipality. We are a small municipality, but our ambitions are large. Yours should be too!

You will work across the municipal administrations and the children and culture area in close collaboration with civil society. It is therefore essential that you are entrepreneurial and full of ideas and can place the culture school in relation to other areas of the municipality.

Your primary tasks will be to

• ensure that the Culture School is a visionary cultural institution
• develop new offerings and collaborations that can strengthen cultural teaching in general
• ensure a good balance between development, operations and finances. You have full responsibility for the schools budget
• participate in an active management team and lead and develop 20 employees
• maintain the good and strong working environment at the culture school
• advise and support the political level with professional perspectives and development proposals
• create backing for the culture schools visions among politicians, partners and citizens

We are looking for you who

• have co-creation and cross-disciplinary work as part of your DNA
• have experience with professional leadership and/or personnel management
• have experience working in a culture institution

Your personal competences – you

• are proactive, determined and goal-oriented
• are good at building relationships and can inspire, motivate and create well-being
• have knowledge of and preferably experience with e.g. the music, culture and/or school world
• have a relevant education as a musician, teacher, academic or similar. Perhaps you also have a leadership education?
• have the courage to set direction and inspire others
• work persistently and do not give up when development processes become complex
• can translate visions into concrete actions and results

Salary and terms of employment

The position is paid according to the relevant collective agreement. The salary is expected to be in the range of approximately 51,000-56,000 DKK per month exclusive of pension, depending on qualifications and experience. Pension contributions are additional according to the applicable collective agreement.

There is an application deadline on 26 October at 12:00.

First interview will be held on 5 November and second interview on 11 November. Applicants progressing to the second interview will undergo a Garuda test. Feedback on the Garuda test will be provided before the second interview.
