Position as head of the after-school program Nanoq in Paamiut

The after-school program Nanoq is a supervision service for children in 1st to 3rd grade after school and is licensed for 60 children.

Staffing level is 6½ and is distributed as follows: leader, deputy, 2 child social assistants, 2 assistants and in addition a cleaning assistant who works part-time on a daily basis.

The after-school program Nanoq is open Monday to Friday from 07:30 to 16:30 and is located at the school "Tuiisaq"

The manager's working hours are between 08:00 – 16:00, with the possibility, if needed, from 07:30 – 15:30 or 08:30 – 16:30

Functions associated with the Manager position

The manager is a sparring partner with the deputy and together they must ensure compliance with the overall goals and objectives as well as guidelines for the pedagogical work being carried out in practice.

The manager participates in the staff norming and undertakes the usual pedagogical work with parent cooperation, preparing action plans/activities

Pedagogical work area

∙That you, in close cooperation with the institution management, implement laws and guidelines for the pedagogical work

∙That you ensure the after-school program's pedagogical annual plan and values are carried out in practice

∙That you participate in or guide in solving cooperation problems between staff and parents

Administrative work area

∙Daily operation of the institution

∙Ensure sound staff coverage in relation to staffing norms

∙Hold meetings with staff, users and parents

∙Ensure recording attendance for each day for all users

The Department of Day-care institutions offers ongoing training tailored to the day-care environment and the leadership team.

Criminal and child protection background check

The position is covered by the Act on the Duty to obtain criminal and child protection checks. Under the law, employment may only begin once the municipality has received satisfactory criminal and child protection checks. We must therefore point out that the start date can only be agreed when the municipality has received the child protection check from the national police, as well as the criminal record from the police.

The child protection check is obtained by the municipality with the consent of the individual, where the criminal record is obtained by the individual from the Police.

Salary and terms of employment

Salary and terms of employment are in accordance with the applicable collective agreement between the Greenland Self-Government and the negotiating party organization corresponding to the start date.

The appointment will be made with a 3-month probationary period.

Housing

For the position, housing for staff can be allocated, for which a deposit and rent, utilities, etc. are paid according to the rules for housing payments in Greenlandic Self-Government and municipal properties in Greenland. If permanent staff housing cannot be made available immediately at the time of recruitment, temporary vacant housing will be offered for employees with the right to vacant housing, for which rent, utilities, etc. are paid in accordance with the above. The start date depends on when a staff housing becomes available. A relocation trip and moving allowances are provided in accordance with applicable rules.
