About the job

Are you structured, practically minded and ready to make a noticeable difference for both our conscripts and the national emergency response? Do you thrive in a daily life with broad contact surfaces, and would you like to help build a completely new emergency response capacity in the water sector? Then you may be our new constable at the depot of the Danish Emergency Management Agency Zealand (BRSS).

About us

The Danish Emergency Management Agency Zealand is one of the five conscript training emergency centers of the Danish Emergency Management Agency and is responsible for operational state rescue tasks on Zealand and a number of bridged islands. The coverage area includes approximately 2.5 million residents.

The Danish Emergency Management Agency Zealand maintains a 24/7/365 system and continuously supports municipal emergency services, the police, regions, food authorities and other partners. Historically, the agency has had a relatively high level of operational activity – both in terms of missions and exercises. This places high demands on our equipment and logistics.

At the center we are just under 60 employees with varying professional backgrounds. In addition, colleagues support the center with canteen and facility operations.

Alongside our operational tasks, we train around 130 conscripts every year to become rescue specialists.

The clothing and equipment depot is a central nerve in our organization. It is here we ensure that both permanent staff and conscripts have the right equipment, of the right quality, on time.

We place a high value on a good working environment, high professionalism and an informal tone in a daily life where tasks can change quickly.

About the position

As a constable at the clothing and equipment depot you will play a key role in daily operations and servicing of our conscripts. Your primary workplace will be at the depot in Næstved, where you in collaboration with your colleagues ensure an efficient and structured everyday life.

Your primary tasks will be

 Serving conscripts: You are responsible for issuing and returning clothing and equipment and providing guidance on correct use.

 Fault finding and repair: You perform simple fault finding, maintenance and rectification of faults and deficiencies on the equipment.

 Depot operations: You join a fixed rotation with the other staff around the daily opening and closing of the depot.

Special focus area: New national water emergency capacity

The Danish Emergency Management Agency is entering into an exciting new collaboration with the Environmental Protection Agency. Strategic storage locations will be established east and west of the Great Belt to secure a robust emergency response that can assist municipalities and local waterworks during critical water supply outages. As our new colleague you will become an active part of this project.

The tasks in the project include

 Operation, maintenance and commissioning of the specialized water equipment.

 Inventory management and ongoing capacity building at the location.

 Ensuring constant operational readiness for the capacity.

You will gradually build specialized knowledge about this equipment and its use. We therefore expect you to develop into one of our professional key personnel when the capacity is activated in real-life situations.

About you

You are probably trained as a constable (or have other relevant military/emergency background) and have solid practical sense. You thrive in an outward-facing role, where you meet the conscripts with a smile, but also manage to set clear boundaries for the handing over and handling of the agency's equipment.

We envision that you

 Hold a Category C (truck) driving license so you can handle and move the heavy equipment in connection with the new water emergency project.

 Are structured, have a sense of order and can keep a cool head when it is busy at the depot.

 Have hands that are ready for technical fault finding and minor repairs.

 Are a strong team player who takes responsibility for the community and the routines.

 Are flexible: As the Danish Emergency Management Agency handles acute, national rescue tasks, you must be prepared that there may be emergency tasks outside normal working hours.

Employment terms

The position is a constable position on collective agreement terms.

Salary and other terms are regulated by the current Collective Agreement between the Ministry of Finance and the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations and CO10 – Central Organization of 2010 and the Agreement between the Defence Agency and the Central Association for Pay and Personnel of the line and reserve, as well as students in the Ministry of Defence with the associated authorities, and supplements as of 6 January 2025 entered into between the Central Organization of 2010, Central Association for Pay and Personnel and the Ministry of Finance.

Your fixed workplace will be in Næstved.

As an employee of the Danish Emergency Management Agency you are subject to certain special terms. You must, among other things, be security cleared and maintain the security clearance throughout the employment period.
