About the job

At Skolen ved Bülowsvej we established four years ago BÜrummet, which is a community for students with involuntary school absence. Communities are woven together, and absence becomes something tangible when we meet in BÜrummet. Here we work purposefully to create new opportunities for students who have had difficulty finding their place in school. If you want to be one of those who make this difference, you should be part of BÜrummet.

BÜrummet at Skolen ved Bülowsvej in Frederiksberg brings together students from several of the municipality's schools. BÜrummet is for students in 6th-9th grade, but currently there are students in 8th and 9th grade. In BÜrummet we work targeted to increase the children’s quality of life by creating a safe and meaningful daily life, where they have something to wake up for, where they feel included and can rediscover the joy of being an active part of a community and a school day.

Through BÜrummet a framework is created that supports the students’ well-being, motivation, learning and opportunities to return to school in a smaller environment. There are few adults attached to BÜrummet and there is a clear daily structure. The staff consists of teachers, pedagogue, psychologist and UU-adviser, each contributing with professional and pedagogical competencies to ensure a holistic approach.

I BÜrummet we always start from the individual student’s needs, both with a view to long-term goals and the current daily form. We base ourselves on relevant assessments, PPV, diagnoses, Low Arousal principles, recommendations as well as the student’s own experiences, approaches and wishes. We work with achievable goals that strengthen the student’s self-esteem and motivation, while humor and recognizability are included to create safe frames.

If the student is not ready for the community, we ensure that the community comes to the student. We do this through our outreach unit, which collects students in the morning and through ongoing home visits.

We are currently seeking an engaged teacher with competencies in the Danish language subject, who can see themselves as part of a close collaboration with students, parents and colleagues and who wishes to participate in the continued development of BÜrummet. You will become a central part of a very dedicated team and will function as the contact person for selected students with close dialogue to their parents.

The position includes teaching Danish in BÜrummet as well as other relevant elective subjects.

We need someone with special education competencies or perhaps experience as a counselor/advisor, but the most important for us is that you are the right person.

You can do some of this, and if you can’t do it all, we can do the rest together

  • You dare to step to the edge and do what is needed for the students to succeed – even when it’s not exactly as planned
  • You are funny and positive to be with and can create trust and safety in the close relationship with the students, parents and colleagues
  • You are interested in making a difference for children and young people with school absences
  • You have experience with or interest in special pedagogy and the planning of differentiated teaching
  • You can teach Danish and are good at motivating the students – even if they say no thanks
  • You are curious about practice when a day does not go as planned
  • You are independent and can make decisions on your own
  • You contribute positively and appreciatively to the job satisfaction in the team and at the school
  • You want to further develop BÜrummet in collaboration with us

We offer a well-functioning and elective school. We ensure this through professional and pedagogical sparring, involvement at all levels and a shared desire to participate in meaningful communities that every day care for the children’s well-being and learning. The professional collaboration is the backbone for success, and therefore we are seeking a teacher who will collaborate and contribute to the shared responsibility that all children are in positive development and have the opportunity to participate in communities. With us no one stands alone, neither children nor adults.

We are development-oriented and have previously been awarded Frederiksberg Municipality's Innovation Prize for our focus on varied and different teaching. We are therefore primarily looking for staff profiles who want to further develop our exciting school and BÜrummet. So do not hold back if the combination of subjects doesn’t match 100%.

The Skolen ved Bülowsvej is centrally located on Frederiksberg and has almost 1,000 students from kindergarten to 9th grade. The staff consists of more than 120 employees who have a strong desire and willingness to collaborate and explore new ways. We have an informal culture where dialogue and mutual trust are the basis of the work. In addition, we have Frederiksberg’s best staff association, a fitness center for all employees and a snack buffet with a fruit program – life never stands still at Skolen ved Bülowsvej. We look forward to hearing from you!

Please feel free to contact the school principal, Lars Westh, at tel. 28980591 or deputy principal, Sabine Skafte, at tel. 28980594 to hear more about the position, the school or something else.

Salary and employment terms are in accordance with the applicable collective agreement. Please note that a child attestation and a private criminal record check will be obtained upon employment in Frederiksberg Municipality.

The application deadline is Friday, October 23 at 12:00 and employment interviews will be held Monday, October 26 . Please note that we continually invite relevant applicants. Applications are submitted via the link.

Kind regards
