Make a difference – spend about 3 hours every other weekend with an active and loving 5-year-old boy in Brøndby

We are seeking a warm-hearted, responsible and attentive helper for Erik, who will soon turn 5 years old. Erik is a delightful, loving and curious boy with autism, who needs someone who would like to spend time with him on weekends.

The position is about 3 hours at a time distributed over 2 weekends per month. The times are arranged further with the family.

Who is Erik?

Erik is a happy and active boy with lots of personality. He loves to be in motion and enjoys both indoor activities and outings. He, among other things, likes puzzles, play, movement and various forms of sensory stimulation.

Erik does not speak much yet, but he has a number of words and sounds that he uses to make himself understood. He also uses a lot of aided communication, where the adult helps him to communicate, as well as pictograms and pictures.

Erik has recently been tested as normally gifted, but has some challenges that mean he needs support and clarity in everyday life.

He still uses diapers, and the family is in the process of potty training him, so it is important that you are comfortable also helping with this.

What does the job involve?

Your main task is to be with Erik and create safe, cozy and active hours together with him. This can be playing and activities at home or outings.

Erik has annual and accompanying cards to Den Blå Planet, Zoo and Experimentarium, and when possible, the father would like to drive Erik and the helper to and from these places.

Erik has an allergy to two major food groups. Therefore there is very clear and detailed guidance on what Erik may eat, and what he must not have.

There will also be thorough training and guidance for the task, so you know how best to support Erik. In the first few times, one of the parents will either be present or nearby so you can always get help and sparring.

We imagine that you

• May be a student, on flex job, or simply a person with energy and a desire to make a difference for a family that needs support.
• Have experience with children – preferably with special needs or autism, but this is not a requirement. The most important is that you are calm, engaged and eager to learn.
• Are a non-smoker, as the mother in the family has asthma.
• Are responsible and comfortable being alone with a child who needs supervision.
• Desire to be active and participate in Erik's play and activities.
