About the job
Do you want to be part of the management at a library that creates communities, participation and new opportunities for the benefit of citizens? We are seeking a visionary and strategic leader for events, development and branch library. Perhaps it’s you?
At Rødovre Libraries we believe that the library is much more than a collection. It is a place where people meet, engage and become part of communities. Here culture, knowledge, citizenship and democracy become reality in everyday life. You can help ensure that as part of the leadership at Rødovre Library.
You will become the third member of our leadership team and will have personnel responsibility for the branch staff as well as the library’s ambitious events team. Your daily workplace will be at Rødovre Library, where you will be responsible for the libraries’ events area and development tasks across the libraries.
We believe that the best ideas arise close to practice. Therefore we work with a high degree of employee involvement and trust. Development grows from the bottom up, and together with the rest of the leadership team you will create the framework that makes it possible for employees to translate ideas into action and results.
We are therefore looking for a leader who can rally people around a common direction and who sees development as something created together with employees, citizens, volunteers and partners.
Your main tasks
You shall
· actively contribute to the strategic development of the libraries as part of the leadership team.
· drive and support development initiatives across the libraries
· have responsibility for the libraries’ events area
· be an important sparring partner for management colleagues and employees
· help lead and continue the development of Islev Library and Citizens’ House
· support voluntarism, citizen involvement and active citizenship
· develop and strengthen collaborations both internally in the municipality and with external actors
· further develop the libraries’ relational hospitality, so that all citizens feel met, seen and invited into the community
Who are you?
We imagine that you
· have experience with personnel leadership and are motivated to develop people and communities
· can work strategically and visionarily
· are used to setting frameworks and direction for others
· build strong relationships with your employees and partners and meet people with trust, curiosity and respect
· are a clear communicator
· work inclusively and see employees’ professionalism as an important driver for development
· preferably have experience from the library sector and professional knowledge about library operations and library development
· have relevant academic education – preferably supplemented with a leadership education.
The most important thing, however, is not necessarily where you come from, but that you can see the library’s special role in society and want to strengthen it together with us.
Why choose us
You will become part of an organization with
· an ambitious leadership team that achieves results together.
· professionally strong and engaged employees
· a culture characterized by trust, collaboration and high professionalism
· great freedom to shape the direction for the libraries
· a library system that actively works with hospitality, communities and citizenship
· strong local collaborations and close relationships with citizens, associations and volunteers
We are proud of the house we have and the results we achieve together. In recent years we have especially worked ambitiously with reading motivation for children and young people, relational hospitality and development of our events. The collaboration with the municipality’s schools and daycare institutions is strong, and they are important partners in the continued work with language development, reading and reading motivation.
Our focus on communities, participation and local rooting is demonstrated, among other things, at Islev Library and Citizens’ House. Here, in the last three years, the house has undergone a major transformation from a well-functioning branch library to also being an active community house with many affiliated volunteer communities. In the synergy between the library and volunteer communities, citizen-facing services have been strengthened, as seen, for example, through several volunteer reading groups and closer collaboration with schools, daycare institutions and other local actors.
The position as head of events and development offers a rare opportunity to be close to the local operations while at the same time having significant influence on the development of the entire library sector in Rødovre.
We work based on the vision Together for Rødovre. This means we believe that the best solutions are created together, and that the library plays a central role as a democratic meeting place, a cultural institution and a force for community building in the municipality.
Do you want to help develop a library where people meet, engage and create something together?
We look forward to hearing from you.
