About the job
Lift off your business. Would you tell the story of how Danish startups and companies take their place in the commercial space industry? Then it may be you we are looking for.
Space Ventures Denmark is seeking a marketing and communications lead as a maternity cover until and including September 2027. The space economy is expected to grow to $1.8 trillion by 2035, and Denmark has a real opportunity to position itself in it. Over five years we have incubated 50+ space startups, which have raised over DKK 300 million in external capital, and we help companies from agriculture and maritime to fintech, health and defense find their space connection.
Our visibility is essential for the right startups, companies, partners and investors to find us. You will take full responsibility for our channels, content, brand and events, while our permanent marketing and communications lead is on maternity leave, and you will lead our marketing team of two student assistants.
You will work closely with our portfolio manager, the two program leaders and the center director for DTU Space Ventures and become part of a dedicated team where no day is the same, and where you get real ownership from day one.
What you will work with
- Own and continue our communications plan and ensure a single, coherent story about Space Ventures Denmark across ESA BIC Denmark, ESA Technology Broker Denmark and our regional hubs at DTU, AU, AAU and SDU.
- Lead and prioritise the work for our two student assistants in marketing, including our content production and AI-supported workflows.
- Drive spaceventures.dk, LinkedIn and our newsletter and produce news, case studies, articles, graphics and video – not least stories from our portfolio of 50+ startups and the companies we help into the space sector.
- Market our programmes and offerings to the right audiences: ESA BIC incubation for startups and Prepare for Space, Kick-Start, SPARK and technology brokerage for established companies across industries.
- Plan, market and run events, including recruitment campaigns for ESA BIC Denmark, workshops, networking events and our participation in conferences and trade shows (some travel activity will occur).
- Maintain our visual identity and ensure correct use of ESA’s, DTU’s and partners’ brand guidelines
- Handle press and media contact in collaboration with DTU’s communications department. Conceptualize and plan targeted PR efforts.
- Coordinate marketing efforts with hub partners, ESA’s communications network and partners such as FORCE Technology, Copenhagen Fintech, CenSec and Open Entrepreneurship, and contribute to the communications part of our reporting to ESA, the Ministry of Education and Research and the Industry Foundation.
- Manage the marketing budget and collaboration with external suppliers (graphic designers, photographers, video producers).
Our expectations of you
You have a relevant education in communications, marketing, journalism or similar. You have a few years of experience in marketing and communications – the most important thing is that you can take responsibility and deliver.
- You write sharply and vividly in both Danish and English and can translate technically complex material – satellite data, space technology, deep tech – into clear messages for a broad business audience.
- You are a strong content producer and comfortable with LinkedIn, CMS systems and newsletter tools, and have basic knowledge of graphic production (Figma, Adobe, Canva or similar). You are curious about using AI tools in daily work.
- You have experience planning and delivering events from idea to execution.
- You are proactive, structured and good at prioritising, and you are comfortable taking over an area of responsibility, leading a small team and running it independently.
- You easily build relationships and thrive in collaborating with colleagues, hubs, startups and external partners.
- Experience from the space sector, another deep-tech domain or an innovation and startup environment is a plus – the same goes for experience with communication in ESA, EU or university settings.
What we offer
- A full-time maternity cover until and including September 2027 based at our office at DTU Lyngby Campus.
- A front-row seat in the Danish space ecosystem and the opportunity to shape the story of Denmark’s position in the growing commercial space industry.
- Real ownership, a small team to lead, a flexible, international working environment and plenty of room to bring your own ideas to life.
- A fun, passionate team that works with space but has both feet on the ground.
Salary and terms of employment
The appointment is made in accordance with the agreement between Akademikerne (AC) and the Ministry of Finance. You will be employed as a confidential clerk. In addition, a supplement may be negotiated in accordance with DTU’s salary structure for academic staff in technical-administrative positions (AC-TAP): https://www.inside.dtu.dk/da/human-resources/under-ansaettelsen/loen/loenstrukturer
The position is a fixed-term maternity cover on a full-time basis until September 2027. Start as soon as possible (or as agreed) to ensure a good handover. The workplace is DTU Lyngby Campus.
