About the job
Generators, emergency power supply, electrical installations, energy optimization, water treatment, and technical consulting as a mechanical engineer. Is that of interest to you? Do you want to work with procurement of new equipment, training material and manuals?
Are you up for a broad interface with the military part of the Defence and sometimes international partners? Then you might be the person we are looking for.
About us
You will become part of the Joint Infrastructure Service at the Engineer Regiment in Skive. We are a professional section that works with the equipment and technical solutions that the Defence needs when establishing and operating infrastructure during exercises and operations – both in Denmark and abroad.
Our areas of work span a broad range. We work, among other things, with generators and power supply, water treatment, climate and heating systems, field equipment, construction machinery, bridges and other technical solutions. An important part of our work is to ensure that the Defence has the right equipment, that it functions as intended, and that users know how to use it.
We advise on technical solutions, contribute to the procurement and testing of new equipment, and prepare, among other things, manuals and training materials. We do this in close cooperation with the employees who will use the equipment, technical specialists, and other parts of the Defence.
You will become part of a small professional environment with different technical specialisms and an informal tone. We help each other across disciplines and place emphasis on both the quality of task execution and a good working environment.
Everyday life varies. Some tasks have short deadlines and require that we pull together, while others allow for going into depth and involving specialists from different disciplines. You will also have good opportunities to plan your own workday and develop your professional competences.
About the position
We offer you a position in a dynamic everyday life with an informal tone, where you will be surrounded by engaged colleagues.
You will become a case handler with primarily field of responsibility within generators and emergency power supply as well as water treatment and climate equipment (AC and heating systems), and you will also contribute to quality assurance and documentation of electrical installations.
Your tasks will also include preparing proposals for procurements in the form of user specifications, participating in trials, testing and selection of equipment together with the Defence Materiel and Procurement Agency (FMI). You will also need to prepare training material within your areas of responsibility, and teach future instructors/users at the operational units.
Depending on background and experience you will also be involved in solving professional tasks in a broader context within the Engineer Troops, and act as the Engineer Regiment’s representative in connection with external activities, including inspections.
At times there will be travel activity in connection with meetings, inspections, training, etc. Activities that are normally scheduled well in advance. It is approx. 7-14 days abroad annually as well as 4-6 meetings in Denmark of 1-2 days each, i.e. with overnight stays.
About you
You are educated as a mechanical engineer. You have a good technical understanding, which you can translate into practical solutions, and you are eager to learn new things and broaden your horizon. If you have a military background it can be an advantage, but it is not a requirement.
The position covers a technical and broad area within the military part of the Defence, and therefore it is important that you have a broad and good understanding of technical topics and can place yourself in the users’ position.
You can work independently, but also take leadership in group or project work, where you can come through in a productive and constructive way, either as a specialist/advisor or coordinator, and the one who drives the project.
Based on operative and technical requirements as well as user requirements, you can analyse to determine both desirable and absolute requirements that set the specifications for new equipment. This happens with the involvement of users and professionals. Subsequently, you must be able to communicate the requirements clearly, both orally and in writing.
Part of the job is expected to be solved in cooperation with international suppliers, which is why it is an advantage if you can communicate well in English.
As a person you are engaged, goal-oriented, and easygoing. You are in good physical shape and must be able to travel abroad and advise/support deployed units. Currently, it could involve support for our operations personnel in the Danish camp in Latvia.
It could also be a control visit to the same camp, either of the Danish installations or an ongoing NATO project regarding energy optimization of camps in which Denmark is involved.
There are service travels and not an expatriation.
Employment terms
Note that the position is advertised both civil and military.
The employment is in accordance with the current Danish Public Sector Collective Agreement – The Public Employers’ Organisation – The Common Collective Agreement for the Public Sector (the OAO-S Common Agreement) and the framework agreement for chief engineers in the country.
Depending on your qualifications and competencies, there is potential for negotiating additional allowances. There is a company-funded pension scheme attached to the position.
Workplace is in Skive.
As an employee under the Ministry of Defence, you are subject to certain special conditions. You must, among other things, be security cleared and maintain the security clearance throughout the employment.
You have, as an employee, a duty to perform service outside the country’s borders, including at units in international operations with a view to participation in conflict prevention, peacekeeping, peacemaking, humanitarian and other similar operations.
