About the job
Bridge engineering, production, and product documentation by transforming designs into a robust, manufacturing-ready product foundation through high-quality drawings, product structures, and technical documentation.
At Weibel, you will join a truly technology-driven company delivering advanced Doppler radars worldwide. With full-scale production located alongside our development teams, we can explore new solutions together and continuously improve our products for customers.
Demand for our products is growing, and customer solutions are becoming increasingly complex. We are therefore looking for a new colleague who can strengthen the quality of our mechanical production documentation and support the continued development of our advanced radar systems.
Improve the quality of mechanical drawings and production documentation
Your primary responsibility will be to ensure a high-quality mechanical production basis, enabling efficient manufacturing and consistent product quality throughout the entire product lifecycle.
Your tasks will include
- Ensure correct application of GPS (Geometrical Product Specifications) principles in mechanical drawings
- Review and improve drawings, tolerances, datums, fits, surface specifications, and edge requirements
- Support design engineers in creating robust and manufacturable production documentation
- Develop and maintain drawing standards, templates, guidelines, and best practices
- Participate in design reviews with a focus on manufacturability, inspection strategy, and drawing quality
- Work closely with production, quality, technical designers, and mechanical engineers to resolve drawing-related issues
- Contribute to continuous improvement of design processes, reviews, and development methods
- Support root-cause investigations related to dimensional or manufacturing challenges
Understand both drawings and design
The ideal candidate understands that a good drawing starts with a good design. Therefore, you are not only experienced within GPS and mechanical drawings but also capable of understanding and developing the functional requirements of mechanical parts and assemblies.
Your professional background could include
- A degree in Mechanical Engineering or similar
- Extensive experience with mechanical drawings and production documentation
- Strong knowledge of GPS standards, including ISO 1101, ISO 5459, ISO 14405, ISO 13715 and related standards
- Experience with machined metal parts and manufacturing processes
- Experience with CAD tools such as Autodesk Inventor and Autodesk Vault
- A solid understanding of mechanical design principles and product development
- Experience supporting production and quality organizations
- Strong communication skills
Your new team
In Weibel’s R&D department, you will join more than 280 highly skilled and dedicated colleagues. Our subgroup consists of 20 mechanical engineers with experience ranging from a few years to more than 30 years, working across a wide range of projects. We work closely with electronic engineers, hardware engineers, technical designers, production specialists and system architects because we believe the best solutions come from bringing different competencies together early in the design process. Designs are verified and developed through reviews, simulations and prototyping.
