About the job

Are you a staff member with pedagogical experience and would you like to work with young people with multiple disabilities? Then you now have the opportunity to help shape a meaningful youth life in Spor D at UiU Horsebakken.

The UiU Education Center, Horsebakken department, is seeking, as of December 1, 2026, an engaged and professionally grounded staff member for a permanent full-time position in Spor D.

About UiU and daily life in Spor D

UiU is Copenhagen Municipality's STU and 10th-grade program for young people with special needs and extensive general learning difficulties. The youths are aged 15-25 and stay at UiU for up to four years.

Spor D is UiU’s offer to young people who typically have several disabilities – e.g., cerebral palsy, epilepsy, visual impairment, blindness, or autism. Many have little or no spoken language and use special tools and personal aids such as a walking frame and a wheelchair. Our students need support for almost all daily activities such as eating, dressing and undressing, personal hygiene and bathroom visits.

Our approach is appreciative and adapted to each individual young person’s potential. The goal is to support the youths in becoming as independent and socially competent as possible, so they have the most influence on their own lives. We do this by arranging a daily routine with structure, repetition and visual aids, where the youths learn to move about, make choices and relate to their daily life in a community setting.

We work with communication and various alternative communication forms such as PODD, sign language, pictures, Boardmaker, iPads and smartboards. The physical, body, dimension is also important, and therefore movement, sensory stimulation, music, cooking and creative activities are also part of daily life.

Your role and responsibilities

As a professionally trained educational staff member in Spor D, you will be part of a multidisciplinary team where we help each other solve daily tasks – both in teaching, activities and practical tasks around the students, such as eating, changing and bathroom visits. You will also be responsible for documenting each student’s development and for being a contact person for some of the youths, which involves close collaboration with parents and good cooperation with the club’s staff.

You will have the opportunity to influence the development of the pedagogical interventions in the team.

You should thrive in cross-disciplinary work and contribute your own professional expertise to the team. It is expected that you participate in the group's daily life on equal terms with other staff and take part in all relevant tasks.

We expect that you

  • are a trained psychomotor therapist or educator
  • have the desire and courage to work with young people with multiple disabilities at an early developmental stage
  • are interested in or have experience with alternative communication forms
  • have knowledge of sensory stimulation and sensory integration, as well as experience with special tools and ADL training
  • are motivated to create structure and predictability for the youths
  • can document and communicate students’ progression in writing and verbally
  • can take on the responsibility as UiU’s assistive device manager
  • thrive in close collaboration with colleagues, parents and other professional groups
  • are preferably familiar with autism or visual impairment, but this is not a requirement

We offer

  • a challenging position in an interdisciplinary environment with high professional standards
  • a workplace focused on collaboration, well-being and sparring
  • engaged colleagues who are passionate about making a difference for the youths

Salary and employment terms

Salary and terms of employment in accordance with applicable collective agreement and within the framework of local pay formation.

The position is full-time, and the working hours are generally between 08:00 and 16:00. The annual norm for a full-time employee applies from August 1 to July 31. This means that you primarily work within 40 school weeks, plus a number of pedagogical, preparation and meeting days as agreed in connection with the school year planning. The students are present from 08:20 to 13:30 on 200 school days per year.

Activities are arranged so that the occupational therapy specialist daily has teaching- and education-related tasks mainly from 08:00-14:00 on 200 school days. In addition, there will be a limited number of student/parent events in the afternoons and evenings during a school year.
