About the job
Do you want to use your environmental law expertise in a growing municipality?
We are seeking a lawyer with solid environmental law knowledge who will work independently with advising, guidance and case handling – and at the same time be part of a strong legal community.
You will be a professional sparring partner for the organization and will receive tasks close to the municipality's development. In addition to environmental law you will work, among other things, with expropriation, supervision of the public housing sector and other public law.
You are a cand.jur. or cand.merc.jur. and may also have a background as a lawyer. Relevant experience may have been gained in a municipality, another public authority, a consulting firm or a law firm. The crucial thing is your environmental law professionalism – not your previous workplace.
A meaningful job with environmental law at the center
The Legal Department is part of the Directorate's Staff and acts as the municipality's internal legal advisers. We support the entire organization closely at the top administrative level and emphasize integrity, collaboration and usable legal advice.
You will have independent responsibility and professional sparring in a varied everyday life with opportunities for deepening and development.
Your tasks
Environmental law is your primary professional area. You will, among other things
- Advise, guide and handle cases within environmental law and spar with colleagues across the municipality.
- Work on projects within climate adaptation, nature protection, biodiversity, soil contamination, waste and other environmental law areas.
- Take part in supervision of the public housing sector in collaboration with a colleague.
- Work on expropriation cases related to urban development and construction projects, including roads and cycle paths.
- Contribute to administrative and municipal law questions, including municipal proxy power, cooperation agreements and other cross-cutting tasks.
You do not need to be a specialist in all areas. Experience with public housing supervision and expropriation is an advantage, but the ability and willingness to quickly familiarize yourself with the areas can also be sufficient. Financial understanding is an advantage in working with the public housing sector.
Your professional background
You have a legal education at candidate level as cand.jur. or cand.merc.jur. and solid competencies within environmental law. You can also be a lawyer. We particularly welcome experience with industrial environment, nature and environmental impact assessment, but not necessarily with all three areas.
Experience with public law in a broad sense is relevant, but previous employment in a municipality is not a requirement. You may, for example, have advised municipalities from a law firm or a private consultancy.
We are looking for an experienced lawyer with solid environmental law competencies, but have not set a specific number of years of seniority. We emphasize your ability to work independently and translate law into understandable, applicable solutions.
We also emphasize that you
- Communicate clearly with citizens, advisers and internal partners.
- Work in a structured, responsible and service-oriented way – also with several simultaneous tasks.
- Thrive with collaboration and professional knowledge sharing in a politically governed organization.
- Want to contribute to the department's development, including appropriate use of AI in legal work.
About the Legal Department
We are eight employees and work, among other things, with public law, administrative law, administrative law, tenant law, data protection, environmental law, planning law, building law, expropriation, buying and selling real estate, supervision of subsidized housing construction, contract law and municipal proxy power. The Rent Tribunal, the Resident Complaint Board and the Grants Board are also anchored with us.
We collaborate with lawyers in the municipality's other service areas and in a shared legal network across the municipality.
What you get with us
- A varied and meaningful position with independent responsibility and opportunity for professional specialization.
- Committed colleagues, professional sparring and the opportunity to influence the department's development.
- A work environment focused on well-being, psychological safety and collaboration.
- Flexibility and the possibility of remote work.
- Employee benefits such as canteen, fruit scheme, holiday homes, physiotherapy via employee treatment scheme, free gym and associations.

The position is in principle full-time, but we are open to discussing your wishes.
Salary and terms of employment follow the applicable collective agreement and are agreed concretely according to competencies, experience and seniority.
The position is desired filled on 1 January 2027.
