About the job
Would you like to help take care of the environment while also taking part in the exciting development that Nordfyns Municipality is in the middle of? Do you thrive in the authority role and in cross-collaboration with many different actors at the same time? Then you have the opportunity to become part of the wastewater group in Nordfyns Municipality!
A everyday life with professionalism and authority
In Nordfyns Municipality we see many exciting tasks within the wastewater area. Therefore we are looking for a new, professionally well-founded colleague for the wastewater group, where you will work with different wastewater technical challenges. You will particularly need to focus on the preparation of discharge permits.
You will become part of a professionally strong team that works with everything from wastewater planning and climate adaptation to authority handling and collaboration with the utility.
What your coming workday might look like
You start at 08.00 and begin the day by getting an overview of your cases. You will be working on a discharge permit and assess how the project affects the water environment.
During the day you will spar with colleagues and be in dialogue with a company about a concrete solution. You can also participate in meetings about urban development projects where wastewater management and climate adaptation must be considered from the start.
Some days allow for professional deepening, while others are characterized by collaboration and dialogue. What in common for the tasks is that you help ensure good solutions for both the environment and development in Nordfyns Municipality.
More about the content of the position
The position is located in the wastewater group in Team Environment. Among other things, you will work with:
- preparation of wastewater permits with particular focus on discharge permits for rainwater and wastewater, including professional assessments of impacts on the water environment, nature and recipients
- authority handling in the wastewater area, including permits, orders, consultations and inspections
- preparation of amendments to the wastewater plan for urban development projects
- environmental screenings and assessments under the Environmental Impact Assessment Act
- collaboration and dialogue with consultants, citizens, utility companies and businesses
- political case presentations and professional briefs to committees and management
The tasks require that you can translate technical and environmental professional assessments into authority decisions with high professional quality.
Although discharge permits will become a central part of your tasks, you will also have the opportunity to work with other tasks within the wastewater area. We adapt the tasks as much as possible to your competences and interests.
We expect from you that you
- have great professional insight into the wastewater area
- have a strong desire to continue learning and developing within the wastewater area
- have a relevant education – for example as an engineer, environmental technologist, biologist or similar
- have knowledge of and interest in the water environment, recipients and wastewater-technical issues
- have worked with the Environmental Protection Act, the Wastewater Ordinance and/or other relevant environmental legislation
- thrive in the role of authority and preferably have experience working in a politically governed organization
- communicate clearly and professionally with citizens and businesses
- have good IT understanding
- work in a structured and collaborative manner
The most important is that you have professional ballast and a desire to use it.
We also emphasize community, professional sparring and good cooperation – both in the department and across the organization. In the wastewater group we work especially closely with the Planning Department, the Construction Department and the Environment, Nature and Watercourses teams on nature protection, urban development and climate adaptation tasks.
Who will your colleagues be?
We are about 20 colleagues with high professionalism and great helpfulness.
We spar a lot with each other, cover for each other and use our different competencies. There is room here to nerd out about legislation, discuss professional dilemmas and share knowledge across disciplines.
Some days the office is so quiet that you can almost hear the legislation creak. Other days the office buzzes with sparring, good laughs and professional discussions.
We have our own earache plant, which has somehow become a shared project. And sometimes we have a puzzle laid out in front of us, which we hope you will help us with during breaks when there is a need to “shake the head.”
We take our tasks seriously. But we also think it should be nice to go to work.
What do colleagues say about your leader?
If you ask us, he is primarily a person with a heart in the right place. He is easy to talk to, always ready with a smile, and genuinely interested in how we are doing.
We know that he backs us up, and that gives great security in daily life. And he can be a bit distractible. A conversation with him sometimes takes a couple of interesting detours along the way.
More than just a job?
- Opportunity for home office – typically 1-2 days per week
- Flexible working hours
- A good pension scheme
- 6th vacation week
- Health scheme
- Good opportunities for further education
- Delicious lunch arrangement prepared by Henriette for us
- A workplace with high professionalism and high psychological safety
