Ministry of Civil Protection and Emergency Preparedness seeks an experienced consultant to work at the intersection of policy and economics

About the Ministry of Civil Security and Preparedness

The Ministry of Civil Security and Preparedness, in close collaboration with the responsible sectors, is responsible for preventing, resisting and managing major accidents, crises, catastrophes and other events that challenge the fundamental functions of society – whether it is cyberattacks, sabotage, espionage or extreme weather events. The ambition is to align preparedness, crisis management and resilience across sectors so that our society is stronger – both in everyday life and during crises.

The ministry consists of the department and two professional directorates: the Agency for Civil Security and the Emergency Response Agency.

Your role and tasks

At ØKOKON we offer a challenging and independent job in an exciting and dynamic environment close to the political decision-making process, where we solve a wide range of complex tasks at the intersection of policy, economics and governance. The office has two office heads responsible for respectively economics and group governance. The position belongs to the economics team, which handles the overall budget and appropriations responsibility for the ministerial area.

This includes coordination, management and analysis of the ministry’s total appropriations, including responsibility for economic decision proposals, budget process, economic committee cases, memoranda, expenditure follow-ups and budget analyses, etc.

We are seeking an experienced employee who will take on a large degree of independent responsibility to drive their own tasks forward, as well as provide professional sparring on financial matters and processes to both other staff in the office, the rest of the department and the office leadership.

About you

You have a relevant master's degree in social sciences, e.g. cand.polit. or cand.scient.pol.

You have a strong professional profile, are able to translate complex issues into solid decision bases and have achieved good results in your previous jobs.

In addition, we expect that you

• have experience with ministerial support and government affairs as well as with budget and appropriation work, including the budget process.
• are ambitious, goal-oriented, proactive and thrive in a busy and varied everyday life.
• have drive, assertiveness and take initiative.
• be good at collaborating and communicating, also across disciplines.
• be motivated by tasks with great significance for societal development.
• have a flair for numbers and strong analytical skills that you can apply in practice.

Employment terms

Employment and compensation are in accordance with the then-current agreement between the state and Akademikerne (AC agreement) and placement will be as a special- or senior consultant.

The position is full-time.

Expected start date is 1 December 2026 or as soon as possible thereafter.

It is a condition of employment that you can obtain security clearance.

The employment area is the Ministry of Civil Security and Preparedness with its associated institutions.
