About the job

KØN offers a wide range of educational programs about gender and equality, body ideals and sexuality, the use of history, democracy and citizenship. We are looking for students who want to be part of the museum's outreach team.

KØN is a museum about the cultural history of the genders. With experience at the center, the museum creates curiosity, dialogue, reflection, and knowledge about gender, equality and diversity – historically, currently and in the future.

About the job

As a museum mediator, your primary task is to handle teaching for primary and secondary school levels. You will be trained to teach in the museum's 7+ fixed educational programs and guided tours for private groups – for example family outings or staff tours. You will be responsible for the museum's teaching on a fixed weekday during the school year.

Great emphasis is placed on the possibility of working several days during the museum's extra busy period Week of Sex (week 6 in 2027) and possibly during school holidays.

Communication at KØN

The educational programs take place in the museum's exhibitions and emphasize a learning space where dialogue-based and student-involved teaching is the core didactic principle. We work from a norm-critical perspective, as we want to nuance history and create new perspectives and spaces for reflection. The past, present and future are connected in all programs.

For private groups we aim to provide insight into the cultural history of the genders and create room for reflection and respectful dialogue.

About you

  • You follow gender and equality debates and think it is important and interesting to discuss gender and equality.
  • Are willing to engage in dialogue with children and young people about topics such as norms and taboos regarding gender, gender roles, body and sexuality.
  • Are interested in cultural history and would like to help make it vivid, relevant and meaningful for a broad audience.
  • Want to develop your communication skills and can take feedback on your teaching.
  • Are passionate about what you do.
  • Are responsible, independent, flexible and reliable.
  • Are a student in a relevant higher education program and have at least two years left of your studies.
  • Have the possibility to teach a fixed weekday during the primary/secondary school year.
  • Have the possibility to take shifts on weekends, public holidays and holidays.
  • Are willing to teach and communicate in both Danish and English.

If you have experience with dialogic teaching, norm criticism and/or providing sex education, this is a plus but not required.

We offer

You will join a team of dedicated educators at a renowned cultural institution. We help you get started with thorough training. You will gain extensive experience with teaching and outreach tasks in an external learning environment with a broad audience.

Is it you?

Then send us a link to a video of up to two minutes where you communicate about a topic within gender, body or sexuality that you find interesting. Also send a short application and your CV in a single PDF.

Application deadline is Monday 19 October at 14:00.

Application, CV and link should be sent to Sophia Kleist Karlson and Caroline Damkjær Jacobsen, responsible for teaching and outreach at [email protected]

Hiring interviews are expected to take place in week 45.

Start is expected in November/December.
