About the job

Culture, Business and Labor Market

Sangkraft Holstebro and Holstebro Music School are seeking an engaged and imaginative music-educational project developer who can help develop our activities within music and health, strengthen our collaborations with kindergartens, youth services and schools, and teach choir, singing, music and movement themselves.

The position combines project development with active teaching practice. You must be able to identify needs and opportunities, develop ideas with others, and translate them into concrete music activities. Therefore, you should thrive in the whole process from the initial contact with a partner to planning, testing, teaching, evaluating and further development.

Project development close to practice

As a project developer you will be a co-creator of new music-educational offerings across Sangkraft Holstebro, Holstebro Music School and our partners.

You must be curious about the needs of different target groups and be able to develop activities in dialogue with, among others, health professionals, pedagogical staff, care homes, associations and municipal actors.

We place emphasis on development happening close to practice. You should therefore both be able to bring people together around an idea, create structure around a course, and test the ideas yourself in interaction with participants. Experiences from practice should be actively used to adjust, qualify and anchor the initiatives.

Music and health

We experience an increasing interest in singing and music activities that support quality of life, well-being, participation and community. This includes offerings such as Parkinson’s Choir, Dementia Song, Singing and Playing at Nursing Homes, Show Me Your Song, Singing Vitamins and SANS.

You will help further develop the area and also lead choirs, singing activities and other music courses. The activities should take their starting point in the participants’ different prerequisites and life situations and create opportunities for musical experiences, presence and active participation.

The development takes place in collaboration with relevant professionals and actors in the health, care and associations sector.

Music, singing and movement in day care and school

We are concerned with how music, singing and movement can support children’s curiosity, participation, relationships and development and how the adults around the children can gain inspiration and tools to carry music forward themselves. We want to strengthen our collaborations with day care facilities and schools and develop new programs where children meet music through singing, sound, rhythm, play and movement.

You will be involved in both developing and implementing the activities. The programs should be created close to the children’s everyday life and in collaboration with pedagogical staff and teachers, so that music becomes a meaningful and usable part of pedagogical practice.

Your tasks will among other things be to

  • develop new music-educational projects and activities from idea to implementation
  • identify needs and opportunities together with participants and partners
  • build and maintain collaborations across culture, health, care, day care and school sectors
  • plan and lead choirs, community singing and other singing activities
  • teach in music, singing, rhythm, play and movement
  • develop and implement music pathways in day care and schools
  • lead activities such as Parkinson’s Choir, Dementia Song and communal singing
  • translate experiences from teaching into adjustment and further development of the initiatives
  • contribute to project descriptions, documentation, evaluation and dissemination
  • actively participate in the professional communities around Sangkraft Holstebro and Holstebro Music School.

We imagine that you

  • have a relevant musical, music-educational or music-therapy education or equivalent experience
  • have strong music-educational competencies and enjoy teaching yourself
  • can lead choirs, community singing and other singing activities
  • can teach in music, singing and movement to different target groups
  • can accompany on piano, guitar or another relevant instrument
  • can develop an idea, bring together relevant partners and implement a project in practice
  • are a confident and engaging musical communicator
  • meet children, adults and the elderly with presence, respect and musicality
  • can work independently while also building good collaborations across disciplines
  • work in a structured manner and can follow a project from idea and planning to implementation, evaluation and further development

It is an advantage if you have experience with choir leadership, music and health, musical activities for people with illness or disability, or music-educational work in day care and school.

Your profile may have particular strength in one of the areas. The essential is that you have a strong musical, pedagogical and relational foundation and a desire to both develop and perform.

We offer

  • a position with real potential to influence and develop new music-educational initiatives
  • a varied workday with both project development, collaboration and teaching
  • opportunity to follow projects all the way from idea to living practice
  • engaged colleagues and strong music-professional environments
  • collaboration with actors across culture, health, care, day care and school
  • opportunity to create offerings with direct impact for children, adults, the elderly and their relatives
  • a workplace where we believe in the power of music to create participation, relationships and quality of life.

About the position

The position is initially 22.5 hours per week.

Depending on your profile and competences, the position can be expanded to 37 hours per week with additional teaching or development tasks at Holstebro Music School and a role as fundraiser and project manager.
