About the job
Are you calm, responsible and good at keeping an overview – even when the rest of the house is sleeping?
Then you might be the person we are looking for as our new permanent night shift at Nørregadehus.
With us, the night shift is not just the one who is at work at night. You help create the calm, security and continuity that make our residents feel at home and safe – around the clock.
We are therefore looking for a colleague who thrives on independence and responsibility, and who also knows that you never succeed alone. You will become part of a work community where night, day and evening are interconnected, and where we share a common responsibility for the citizens' everyday life.
Who are we?
Nørregadehus is a residential facility under Handicap and Social Psychiatry in Vejen Municipality. Here 25 adults with significant physical and cognitive disabilities live in their own apartments.
The residents have different needs for pedagogical and practical support, personal care and assistance. Some nights are calm. Others require you to respond quickly, keep an overview and assess what is most important right now.
There is 24-hour coverage at Nørregadehus, and at night you work together with another permanent night shift colleague.
Who are we looking for?
You do not need to have a specific educational background to apply for the position. Experience from the social or health sector is naturally welcome, but the most important for us is your approach to people, your desire to learn and take responsibility.
We ensure that you are introduced to the task and equipped for working with our residents.
We imagine that you
- enjoy working at night and can work independently
- meet the residents calmly, respectfully and appreciatively
- are stable and take responsibility that others depend on you showing up for work
- can maintain an overview and act when something unexpected arises
- dare to make decisions – and at the same time know your own limits and when to seek help
- see collaboration as an important part of the job, even when you work at a time when there are fewer colleagues in the house
- can naturally participate in personal care and support
- participate in the night’s practical tasks, including laundry and light cleaning
- can document relevant observations and interventions in writing.
Knowledge of Nexus is an advantage, but certainly not a prerequisite. We can teach you that.
What do you get with us?
You will become part of a house that is evolving. We work purposefully with our professionalism, our workflows and with creating a strong sense of teamwork across the entire 24 hours.
With us you get
- a permanent position of 35 hours per week
- regular night shifts with working hours from 22/23–07
- a buddy at night – you are not alone in the house
- handover with colleagues from the other shifts
- thorough introduction to residents, workflows and tasks
- opportunity to influence how we solve and distribute the tasks
- freedom with responsibility and room for professional reflections
- colleagues who may use humor, while taking our task seriously.
We expect something of each other
At Nørregadehus we work from the idea of one house and one shared responsibility .
That means we help each other, communicate properly and take responsibility for our part of the core task. The night shift is an important part of the work community. What happens at night affects the day – just as the day’s work affects the night.
Therefore, we do not expect you to know everything from day one. But we do expect you to be curious, take responsibility, ask when you are in doubt and want to get to know our residents and the house.
Can you see yourself as the calm and responsible colleague who helps create safe nights at Nørregadehus? Then we would love to hear from you.
