About the job

We are seeking an employee who would like to work with case processing in the nature area in a large and geographically diverse agricultural municipality, which stretches from the Little Belt with hilly areas in the east to heath plains and river landscapes in the west. Does that sound like something for you? Then we would be happy to receive an application from you.

About us

You will become part of a group with four nature case workers and a landscape technician, who collaborate and brainstorm about solving tasks. The group sits together and has a good social community.

The group has a very broad range of tasks, where processing of applications and enforcement cases constitute a large part of the work. The focus on nature and biodiversity is increasing, and therefore the group is involved in a wide variety of different projects and plans. The individual typically solves cases concerning the Nature Protection Act §3 as well as a selection of other tasks, depending on competencies.

The position is being advertised because one of our case workers has pursued other challenges.

About the position

The nature group is part of Team Nature in the Department of Building, Nature & Environment. The team has 18 employees and a team leader. The team solves tasks within nature, landscape, waterways, climate adaptation, Natura 2000, water plan and nature projects, and the Green Tripartite. We have a high level of professional expertise and an informal tone, and we place great emphasis on collaboration, helping, and sparring with each other across groups and professional areas.

As a nature case worker with us, we expect you to stand firm on ensuring compliance with current legislation, even in conflict-filled situations. At the same time, you must be able to engage in dialogue with citizens and businesses and actively contribute to finding solutions where nature is protected while there is room for agriculture and other industries. Therefore, communication is an important skill for nature staff.

As a nature case worker it is important to be able to plan, structure and prioritise your tasks, dare to make a professional decision, and get the cases finished. It is an advantage to have a flair for legal issues.

We do not necessarily expect you to be able to handle the task from day one, but you must have the prerequisites either from your education or through experience from other employments. You may be newly educated, but must have an interest in the mentioned areas, be proactive, and willing to learn.

Your tasks could, for example, include

  • prepare decisions under the Nature Conservation Act regarding especially § 3 and conservation lines and the public’s access and carry out the necessary field inspections
  • make assessments of internal and external plans, projects and applications in relation to, for example, § 3-protected nature, Natura 2000 and Annex IV species, protected areas, and landscapes
  • process applications under the Planning Act for the establishment of lakes and terrain alterations
  • solve tasks related to, for example, contributions to restructuring projects under the Green Tripartite and smaller biodiversity projects
  • contribute to projects and plans with ideas and proposals for how to harvest added values in the nature area.

We imagine that you

  • have a natural science, planning, administrative, or other relevant education such as biologist, nature resource candidate, or forester and landscape engineer
  • have a good knowledge of botany, nature types and Annex IV species and preferably an interest in different species groups
  • have knowledge of and can use relevant IT tools including Geographic Information Systems (GIS)
  • are good at formulating yourself in Danish, both in writing and orally
  • have a B driving license.

It is an advantage if you have knowledge of municipal case processing and planning, preferably in the nature area.

We offer

  • diverse tasks
  • good opportunities for training with colleagues, participation in courses, and close sparring and collaboration
  • an induction program where you get a good introduction to work in a municipality
  • flexible working hours and great freedom to plan the work in collaboration with the group, both professionally and in relation to taking holidays, flex, and home office days
  • good opportunities to participate in social events, including in the staff association
  • assistance in finding transitional housing if you plan to move to the area.
