About the job

The NEST CLASSES at Vallerødskolen ARE SEEKING an engaged Danish teacher for 2nd grade

We are looking for you who want to be a substantial adult for the children in our NEST class in the 2nd year at Vallerødskolen.

We are looking for you who want to be a substantial adult for the children in our NEST class in the 2nd year at Vallerødskolen.

Do you want to contribute to giving children with autism or similar challenges a good and educational school experience?

Do you want to be part of a strong work community with a focus on professionalism, co-teaching and good pedagogy?

And would you join in collaboration with colleagues, PPR and management to further develop Nest at Vallerødskolen?

Then you are the one we are looking for!

Vallerødskolen is seeking 1 full-time teacher for a permanent position who will contribute to the continued development of NEST at Vallerødskolen.

NEST refers to a pedagogical practice where children with ASD or autism-like challenges and children from the general population are part of the same class community. The classes are composed of 12 children from the school district and 4 children who have been allocated a place in NEST.

In NEST we work according to the principles of co-teaching, and we maintain a ongoing focus on structure, visual support and predictability. We also focus on your and your colleagues' professional development, and therefore you will receive ongoing professional development and supervision, as well as you will need to participate in team meetings and joint preparation meetings focused on NEST principles. We work purposefully with the children's challenges and well-being throughout the school day.

We are looking for a staff member who

  • is a trained teacher with a major in Danish and preferably with experience from the special education field, co-teaching or a willingness to work with autism-friendly practice
  • is curious and investigative about their own practice
  • is academically well-founded, structured and clear in their actions and communication with students, colleagues, management, PPR and parents
  • has a solid footing in relational work
  • proactively includes relevant knowledge from, for example, pedagogical notes and PPV’s
  • works systematically with action plans
  • contributes positively to the collegial and academic community at the school

You will become part of an active and diverse school and after-school program with a super good colleague environment, lovely modern premises, wonderful surroundings where we are close to forest and sea, good facilities and a well-functioning collaboration across subject areas.

NEST teacher in 2.B, Louise : - “I like working in the NEST class because it is exciting to work together in a class with co-teaching strategies – and the children love it. It just works.”

Further information

Vallerødskolen is a two-three track school with an after-school program, located in scenic surroundings. Currently the school has around 500 pupils and 90 staff members who all work from the three values of the school: Community, engagement and professionalism.
