About the job
Department of Brain and Spinal Cord Injury – Bodil Eskesen Center (BEC)
Since 2025 we have been fully engaged in building our outpatient clinic for children and young people with acquired brain injury. It is with great pleasure that we can now announce yet another vacancy and apply for a new neuropsychologist colleague. If you are a neuropsychologist with an interest in children and young people, then you are the one we are looking for.
The Department of Brain and Spinal Cord Injury at our lovely Bodil Eskesen Center is an exciting workplace in rapid development, with many diverse tasks for neuropsychologists. You will become part of a well-functioning, competent and friendly team consisting of 9 neuropsychologists, 4 speech-language pathologists, 3 social workers and 1 crisis psychologist who solve tasks at both the spinal cord injury ward, the brain injury ward and in our brain injury outpatient clinics.
You will primarily be attached to our newly established outpatient clinic for children and young people with acquired brain injury as well as the brain injury department (highly specialized / regional neurorehabilitation during hospitalization). In addition, you will become part of an exciting and developing multidisciplinary environment consisting of doctors, nurses, physiotherapists and occupational therapists, medical secretaries and many more.
In the child/adolescent outpatient clinic you will as a neuropsychologist be responsible for thorough neuropsychological assessment of children and young people with acquired brain injury and subsequent reporting, formulation of a rehabilitation plan and recommendations for further intervention. There may be follow-up of previously hospitalized patients as well as a back-to-work outpatient clinic for child patients affected by brain injury.
There may also be children affected by brain injury in the very early childhood years, where cognitive and energy-related consequences only become apparent many years later as the brain develops and the child is placed under increased demands by their environment. The child/adolescent outpatient clinic is a new function in the department and you will help develop and put your own mark on our offering.
In the inpatient ward we receive patients with severe acquired brain injuries for early hospital-based rehabilitation. We have 44 beds, of which there is room for up to 4 child patients. With this new position we want 3-4 neuropsychologists to be able to share the child/adolescent function and thus have the opportunity for ongoing sparring and expansion of the function. Initially there will primarily be a need to cover the child/adolescent function, but in the long term there will also be more tasks with adult inpatients and their relatives (including possibly also child relatives).
In the early phase of neurorehabilitation the neuropsychologist on the inpatient ward plays a special role both in assessing the patient and contributing with specialized knowledge about cognition in the multidisciplinary team as well as the complex biopsychosocial understanding and approach to the patient. On the inpatient ward, neuropsychologists offer assessment of rehabilitation needs, neurorehabilitative intervention as well as psychoeducational and supportive conversations with relatives.
We offer you
- A exciting and versatile neuropsychologist position with a variety of tasks including outpatient assessment, cognitive rehabilitation, counseling for relatives, etc.
- To work neuropsychologically with children and young people, and sometimes adults.
- Inviting modern facilities for patients, relatives and staff in the newly built Bodil Eskesen Center.
- An workplace with many new initiatives aimed at creating the best possible treatment, assessment and rehabilitation for our patients and their relatives.
- Ongoing supervision and participation in courses with a view to obtaining authorization and/or specialist training in clinical neuropsychology or clinical child neuropsychology (if you do not already have it).
You will become part of
- A team consisting of nine neuropsychologists (including you), three social workers, four speech-language pathologists and a crisis psychologist.
- A newly started child and adolescent outpatient clinic, which you will have the opportunity to develop and shape.
- An inpatient ward where we work purposefully and multidisciplinary with rehabilitation of patients with severe acquired brain injury in the early phases.
- Multidisciplinary collaboration with physiotherapists and occupational therapists, neuropsychologists, speech-language pathologists, doctors, nurses, social workers, etc.
- A work environment focused on knowledge sharing, well-being, professional sparring and multidisciplinary collaboration where independence, responsibility, respect and collegiality are emphasized.
- A neuro-house in development with many new projects and initiatives in the coming years.
Our expectations of you
You are a candidate with a master's degree in psychology who has experience with neuropsychology and possibly the child field. Ideally licensed, very preferably a specialist in child- or adult neuropsychology or in the process of obtaining this.
We envision that you are a neuropsychologist with previous experience from neurorehabilitation and/or neurology but with a desire to develop competencies as a child neuropsychologist, including the use of test batteries for children (WISC, WPPSI, Bayley or similar).
We expect you can (or will quickly be able to) undertake neuropsychological assessment both outpatient and bedside, documentation and can contribute to the neuropsychological development of the child/adolescent function. In addition, we are looking for people with strong engagement, presence, empathy, collaborative skills and good humor.
