About the job
Surgical ward with an associated wound outpatient clinic, specializing in orthopaedics and subspecialty in ear-nose-throat surgery, seeks a nurse for a permanent position or a temporary position of minimum 3 months' duration. The position is 40 hours/week and on 3 shift changes.
The position is available from December 1, 2026 or by arrangement.
We offer
- Most of the staff have substantial professional experience in nursing in both the primary and secondary sectors
- We focus on involving our patients in our care and treatment, thereby ensuring a cohesive and smooth patient pathway.
- Our care model is assigned care with a focus on team collaboration, with ongoing communication. There is a buddy- and mentor system that provides opportunities for collegial sparring on weekdays.
- We focus on professional development in the department, with weekly 15-30 minute meetings where we work on development areas using the PDSA model.
- We have selected individual staff as resource- or key-persons who are responsible for specific areas such as department hygiene, work in the medication room, etc.
- We focus each year on ensuring that permanent staff receive a wound-care course and/or refresh their competencies in wound care.
- We strive to provide good nursing care to our patients with a focus on quality, and we are pleased to have students/apprentices who regularly come and give us fresh perspectives on our workflows and any potential quality gaps in our care.
- Our department is an acute department with a high patient flow, where waves can run high and where there may be many balls in the air. Therefore we focus on taking care of each other and use a priority ladder to prioritize tasks.
- Together we focus on patient safety, which requires good integration into workflows, which is why we have adapted our introductory material for new colleagues whether they come in permanent positions or in shorter contracts.
- We provide acute nursing care on weekdays, as many of our patients come as treatment-demanding acute orthopedic surgical patients.
- We retrieve our patients by air ambulance from the coast if the patients are not critically ill. We also accompany them home if needed.
- We focus on strengthening our clinical professional outlook so that we can provide good surgical nursing care and develop our knowledge and competencies in the nursing profession.
We are looking for you who

- Preferably have experience in surgical nursing. It would be a plus if it includes: wound care, orthopedic and/or ear-nose-throat surgical nursing.

- Have good patient contact with a nursing approach that fits Greenlandic culture
- Are adaptable, including ready to learn the EPJ system COSMIC
- Are trained as a clinical supervisor and/or would like to mentor students/apprentices
- We would like you to be curious and adaptable
