About the job
Can you see the professionalism in the long, tough pull?
At the B1 forensic-psychiatry ward we are seeking a nurse who is motivated by long and complex patient journeys — and by work where relationships, structure, clinical insight and a common direction can slowly move something forward.
It is not “let's fix this before lunch.” It is psychiatric nursing, where patience, professionalism and the ability to remain calm have great importance.
In return, you get a job where professional decisions over time can have a large impact.
Who are we?
B1 is a closed forensic-psychiatry inpatient ward at the Psychiatric Centre Sct. Hans in Roskilde. We have 16 patients with longer-term pathways.
The patients often have severe mental disorders — typically psychotic disorders such as schizophrenia — and may also have substance use, cognitive difficulties and social challenges. The patients have a treatment mandate, and the admission has a crime-prevention purpose.
This means that our task includes treatment, safety, relationships, frameworks, daily structure and psychiatric nursing.
Some days it is about medication, risk assessments, treatment plans, documentation and interdisciplinary conferences.
Other days it is about helping a patient get out the door, doing laundry, saying something difficult in an appropriate way — or just getting through the day without everything tipping over.
Both are professionalism.
You will work daily in Udsigten — a modern building close to Roskilde Fjord with good facilities for treatment, activities and the working environment. But good facilities do not do it alone. It is everyday life, the relationships and the shared professional expertise that make the difference.
What does a nurse do on B1?
As a nurse on B1 you will have independent clinical responsibility in longer-term patient pathways.
You will be the lead for the care pathway for up to four patients, but you will not bear the responsibility alone. You work closely with social and health care assistants, social educators, doctors, a psychologist, a social worker, an occupational therapist, the clinical nurse specialist and ward management on the patients’ pathways.
Among other things you will work with
- Longer-term patient pathways.
- Psychiatric and somatic observation.
- Medication administration and assessment of effectiveness and side effects.
- Treatment plans, documentation and professional follow-up.
- Relational safety and de-escalation.
- Risk assessments and prevention of conflicts.
- Patient involvement and everyday coping.
- Interdisciplinary collaboration.
- Structure, shared agreements and clinical judgment.
There are two daily meetings in the ward where we coordinate the day, distribute tasks and ensure a common overview.
Who are you?
You are a licensed nurse and have an interest in psychiatric nursing.
You do not need to have experience from forensic psychiatry. The most important thing is that you want to learn the specialty and can see meaning in longer-term psychiatric patient pathways.
We are looking for you who
- Can work calmly and structurally.
- Have clinical insight and dare to use it.
- Can create relationships without losing the frame.
- Can be assertive without becoming hard.
- Can be caring without being boundaryless.
- Can collaborate closely with other professional groups and clearly bring your nursing expertise into play.
- Can see meaning in small progress.
- Can hold on, even when development is slow.
You may also have a sense of humor.
Not humor that targets patients or colleagues. But the kind of humor that makes it possible to breathe in a complex daily life and still want to come to work again tomorrow.
You are not alone
On B1 safety and collaboration are a shared task.
In our work with patients there is always a colleague nearby, whom you can see or hear. We do not work alone.
You will get
- A thorough introduction.
- A mentor arrangement.
- A four-day course in conflict management.
- Training in safety, procedures and shared frameworks.
- Close professional sparring.
- Supervision.
- Colleagues who help each other.
- Leadership close to everyday life.
You will gradually learn the specialty through introduction, training, sparring and hands-on experience.
We do not expect you to know forensic psychiatry from day one. The most important thing is that you come with professional curiosity, integrity and a desire to become skilled together with us.
What do we offer?
We offer a workplace with high professional standards, clear boundaries and a staff group that takes the task seriously, but where there is also room for humor and humanity in daily life.
You will have the opportunity to work with psychiatric nursing in one of the most specialized areas in psychiatry. You will experience longer-term patient pathways, close interdisciplinary collaboration and the chance to develop strong competencies within forensic psychiatry, de-escalation, risk assessment, relational safety and clinical leadership in practice.
We have a stable staff group, clear structures and a strong collegial community where we help each other with a complex task.
Salary and terms of employment
Start date is 01.12.2026 or by agreement.
Salary and terms of employment follow the collective agreement for non-managing staff in the Health Collective area concluded between the Health Collective parties, including the Danish Nurses Organization and RLTN with salary placement as a nurse.
The ward is staffed around the clock, and you will therefore be scheduled with mixed shifts in accordance with the rules of the applicable working time agreement.
Currently there is a weekend shift every other weekend.
We know that balance between work and private life matters. Therefore we are working towards a new weekend model with the possibility of fewer working weekends — 9 working weekends instead of 12 over a 24-week period. It will also be possible to work every other weekend if you wish.
You will be employed at Amager and Hvidovre Hospital, Psychiatric Centre Sct. Hans.
Are you curious?
You do not need to be completely sure whether forensic psychiatry is for you before you call.
In fact you may be curious, in doubt or simply think
“It sounds exciting, but I’m not completely sure forensic psychiatry is for me.”
Then we will take it from there.
You are very welcome to contact Chief Nursing Officer Martin Corlin Christensen at telephone 38 64 23 36 , if you want to hear more about the position, the on-call schedule or the work on B1.
You are also welcome to drop by for an informal cup of coffee and a tour, so you can get a sense of the surroundings and the daily life.
We look forward to receiving your application and CV via the link on the page.
