About the job

Psychiatric Department A1 at Queen Ingrids Hospital seeks a nurse with an interest in psychiatric nursing for a full-time position.

Start date: January 2, 2027 or as soon as possible thereafter. The position can possibly be filled as a temporary position of at least 3 months duration.

Are you interested in actively participating in the development and transformation processes currently underway in psychiatry in Greenland? Do you want to do something with your nursing and would you like, in collaboration with the ward nurse, to be a culture carrier and developer of the ward's nursing? Then you have the chance now to be part of the team by applying for a job as a nurse in the psychiatric inpatient ward in Nuuk.

About the department

Department A1 is part of the psychiatric area in Nuuk. We receive both acute and planned patients who require admission for assessment, treatment, care and rehabilitation. A1 covers all specialties and ages. We have space for 12 patients with mental disorders, of which 3 patients are in a secured unit. The psychiatric department is led daily by a ward nurse. We are a team consisting of nurses, psychiatric and health care assistants, occupational and physiotherapists as well as pedagogues. We consider interdisciplinary collaboration essential and necessary.

We work in the department based on an environmental-therapeutic and de-escalating approach to patient care where a contact person scheme and patient-supportive nursing, psychoeducation, relationships and networks form the basis for good psychiatric nursing. Initiatives for a good work environment and safety are highly prioritized. As well as our focus on visible and present leadership and reducing coercion. We work with nursing documentation in EPJ Cosmic, and in addition we receive students and trainees for education.

In general, the psychiatric area in addition to the inpatient ward A1 consists of an outpatient clinic for children, adolescents and adults who are in outpatient assessment, need treatment follow-up or have a psychotherapeutic course with psychiatrists and psychologists. The area has a social worker function and a psychiatric therapy. Across the Greenlandic health regions there is an associated district psychiatry that supports patients in life outside the hospital.
