Nursery educator seeks colleague

At Himmelskibet you won’t be the only educator; with us there are a minimum of 2 educators in each room.

We are seeking an educator with high professional qualifications, who dares to lead and be a caravan leader for the caring and present pedagogy of 2026. If you have a special profile or an interest/experience you can contribute, there is plenty of opportunity for you to apply your competences with us.

The crew at Himmelskibet consists of 2 leaders, 17 educators, 5 educational assistants and 6 educational helpers (of whom 2 are shift-students), but we are insistent on high pedagogical quality, so we would like to have more. We are mixed in both age, experience, gender, education and ability. Together, we can do a lot and we look forward to welcoming an extra colleague aboard our nursery, which consists of four groups with 4 adults attached to each group.

For the last 6 months we have had a sharp focus on care and presence, and in September we joined a larger development project together with Copenhagen University College (KP). This means in practice that we have delved into the concept of care and looked at our own practice, while at the same time we have aligned how good care can and should look with us. We have been visited by consultants from KP at our room meetings, and received shared training at our staff meetings.

Our children are lovely and full of energy, parental collaboration is good and although summer is coming to an end, our large playground remains beautiful with green leaves on trees and bushes, inviting outdoor life and immersion in nature.

All rooms have their own cloakroom and entrance, and we have the possibility to divide the children into groups each day, as we have many rooms in the house.

We place reflection high on the agenda and therefore participate in an experiment with "common time" together with Gentofte Municipality, where educators gather for shared reflection on topics they themselves find meaningful. Currently we are reflecting on playground pedagogy.

Can you see yourself, together with other engaged people, who work to give the children some good and educational experiences through planned activities and good routines? - We work with weekly plans based on a shared annual wheel.

Can you see yourself in a lovely bright house with a large nice common room and rooms that have several spaces and their own cloakroom? - We enjoy our good environment and the many square metres we have.

Can you see yourself in green surroundings and on a playground with good opportunities for movement? We have a large playground, which is divided into nursery and kindergarten. On the playground there are shrubs and trees that divide the playground into smaller zones.

We work room by room, but of course help each other as needed. All adults and children in the nursery know each other, and this is something we are proud of.

As a new employee in Himmelskibet you will be warmly welcomed and get a colleague as a "buddy" as well as conversations with someone from management once a month during the first 6 months of your employment.

Gentofte Municipality offers a range of courses and continuing education for educators, which there will be opportunities to participate in.
