About the job
It's now time to start applying if you want to work in and experience Nuuk over Christmas and/or New Year.
We are seeking nurses and midwives for both permanent and short-term appointments, at our Gynecological/Obstetric department with start from 1 December 2026 or by agreement.
We are seeking new colleagues who can help during the winter period over Christmas and New Year (and preferably longer), and who can work purposefully with what is important for the patient. This means that in your communication you are listening, ask questions before you give answers, and that the nursing you plan and perform is always in interaction with the specific patient and their relatives.
It also means that you are engaged in your work and have a positive and appreciative outlook on life, which influences both patients, relatives and colleagues.
Experience with obstetrics, including gynecology and/or palliation, is an advantage but not a requirement. The most important is that you are willing to take part in all specialties and various types of patient pathways.
A little about K3
The Gynecological/Obstetric Department K3 receives gynecological as well as obstetric patients from all Greenland. Hospitalization in the department can be planned or acute. Pregnant women are covered by the perinatal guidelines and are admitted to the department after referral. Pregnant women, where complications arise in connection with pregnancy and/or birth that require treatment at K3, are also admitted to the department.
The average length of stay varies greatly and depends, among other things, on the admission diagnosis. Most patients are admitted for less than a week, which means there is a large patient flow in the department.
The department has 10 maternity/postnatal beds as well as space for 2 "gro-børn", which are our premature rooms. In addition, the department has 8 beds for gynecological patients and breast patients. There are often general gynecological patients, whereas more complicated gynecological conditions and procedures are referred to Rigshospitalet.
The department also handles palliative patient pathways, where it is important that dying patients and their relatives experience security, care and support from health professionals in the last time. These patients may be admitted for longer periods.
The department is attached to our maternity department and has close collaboration with the midwives. In addition, we collaborate closely with the public health service and have a strong focus on early intervention.
The department also has a strong focus on competence development and a strong professional culture. Every Tuesday we hold professional meetings focusing on improvement and development in the department. In addition, monthly Thursday teaching sessions and other professional activities within the specialties are arranged.
The department collaborates with health centers and regional hospitals across Greenland and is Greenland's only specialized department for newborns and births.
The department has a growing and stable staff group, which is predominantly bilingual. In addition, we have a good network of short-term employees, a permanent interpreter and affiliated senior physicians.
We work with assigned patient care and continuously develop competencies according to needs and wishes – always with a focus on what creates the most value for the patient.
We offer
- A department with engaged staff in a good multidisciplinary environment
- A department in ongoing development where your contribution is important
- A position with professional challenges and good opportunities for competence development
- An exciting daily life with a wide range of tasks
- Assistance to settle in well if you have not previously worked in Greenland or are not familiar with Greenlandic culture
- An active staff association
We are looking for you who
- Are open and interested in multidisciplinary collaboration
- Seek new professional challenges
- Have the ability to stay calm and keep an overview in stressful situations
- Preferably have experience from obstetrics, neonatology, pediatrics, gynecology and/or palliation
- Like to work in a versatile, independent and multidisciplinary way
- Can prioritize and plan your work tasks
