About the job
Would you like to spend Christmas and/or New Year in Nuuk?
Then come and take a temporary position in the Medical Department, at Queen Ingrids Hospital, in Greenland.
We offer temporary positions that run through December and January with a start between November 1 and December 1, 2026.
We prefer temporary positions with a duration of at least 3 months, but shorter can also be considered if you have the right experience.
Are you interested in other periods during the winter, we would also like to hear from you.
In the Medical Ward you will find a department with high professionalism, dedicated colleagues and a fantastic workplace in beautiful surroundings.
We can’t guarantee a white Christmas, but the chance is greater here than at most other places. In return we can promise plenty of Christmas hygge. Christmas in Nuuk starts already on the first Sunday of Advent and lasts until Epiphany on January 6. In December there is plenty of atmosphere and Christmas events in Nuuk. There are Christmas stars that light up in every window – if you’re lucky, there is also the Northern Lights. New Year’s Eve is ushered in with two rounds of fireworks, as both the Danish and Greenlandic New Year are celebrated – and there will be no sparing on the fireworks.
Professionalism – breadth, depth and responsibility
With us you meet a diverse patient group and have the opportunity to work with the full spectrum of nursing – both basic and complex tasks.
We work among other things with
- Neurological rehabilitation pathways
- Stroke and longer-term disease trajectories
- Cancer and dementia assessment
- Infectious diseases such as tuberculosis
- Palliative and terminal care paths
Rehabilitation is an integrated part of everyday life – also in a medical department. This means that we focus on the patient’s functional ability, quality of life and interdisciplinary collaboration from start to finish.
You will have a daily routine with clinical, coordinating and instrumental tasks – and experience what it means to wear many hats in practice.
You are not alone, but you must be able to stand on your own
We place high priority on community and knowledge sharing
- Daily morning meetings – often with singing
- “Time-out”, where we adjust resources together and share sparring
- Weekly interprofessional conferences
- Regular staff meetings
- A weekly newsletter that keeps everyone updated
We have a culture where we actively use each other’s competencies. But we expect you to take responsibility, think for yourself and use your judgment.
Work environment – visible leadership and room for development
We work purposefully with well-being and quality in everyday life
- Visible and accessible leadership
- A coordination team that ensures good patient flow
- Focus on collaboration – both internally and with external partners such as the municipality, palliative care team and intake units
- A cross-cultural work environment where diversity is a strength
Who are you? We imagine that you
- Want to work with basic nursing – that is a prerequisite
- Have broad clinical experience or willingness to develop it
- Thrive in a daily life with variation and responsibility
- Can work independently while being a strong team player
- Have an interest in longer patient pathways and rehabilitation
Why choose us? Because here you have the opportunity to use your entire nursing expertise – in close contact with patients, in a strong community and in a daily life that both challenges and develops you.
