Nurses sought for the Expanded Treatment Team at the Intensive Care Unit

We are an intensive care unit that spans from the highly intensive patient to the intensive, stable patient who requires more care and treatment than a normal ward can offer. Do you have solid experience from the intensive specialty , emergency care or larger wards? Then you may be one of our new colleagues; we are seeking for our fantastic and truly special team - Team for Expanded Treatment in the Department of Intensive Care, Herlev Hospital.

Who are we

The department has 12 24/7 beds distributed across three teams, of which 8 are high-intensity beds (ITA1) and 4 beds (ITA2/TUB) for intensive patients with an extended need for observation, treatment and care.

We are a versatile and open-hearted nursing group marked by energy, humor, trust and an inclusive community. We focus on well-being, recognition and clear leadership – for both patients and staff.

We are 80 nurses with widely varying experience - from many years of intensive, surgical, medical experience to newly graduated colleagues. What unites us is the desire to create a safe working and learning environment, where we provide the best professional care to our patients. We do this in close collaboration with our intensive care physicians and other partners.

About the department

The Department of Anesthesia, Surgery and Intensive Care at Herlev and Gentofte Hospital is one of Region Hovedstaden's largest departments with about 600 staff.

The department has physically operated on two sites since 1 October 2025, with a chief physician and 2 chief nurses.

We have a well-functioning cross-disciplinary research section.

On the Herlev site the department is divided into the following sections: 2 Operating Departments OP1 and OP4, and OP2 which is a Day Surgery Department. In addition, 2 Intensive Departments ITA1 and ITA2 where ITA2 is a specialized team for expanded treatment (TUB), 2 Recovery Departments OPV1 and OPV2.

On the Gentofte site we have a large elective operating suite with an associated Receiving and Recovery department. In addition we have our Multidisciplinary Pain Center and Sterilization.

We are a department that values a good working environment and have a positive and open approach to work, where we emphasize a high level of information and high professionalism. In daily life we focus on a good development and learning environment, including placing a high value on our mental health and well-being. We prioritize a good tone and show respect to one another in both speech and action.

We are together in a common set of values in the department, where the core values are professionalism, clarity and improvement. We are a shared department with many actors, all working together for the patients with a focus on delivering the best treatment to patients and relatives and ensuring good transitions and continuity in the patient’s course.

Salary – and terms of employment

Start of employment is 1 December 2026 or by agreement. Salary and terms follow the agreement for non-management staff in the Health Sector, concluded between the Danish Nurses Organization and the Regional Wage and Tariff Board.
