About the job
Occupational Therapist temporary position
Slagelse Hospital
Are you passionate about becoming part of a professionally strong team? Then this position might be for you?
As we have received grant funds, the Occupational Therapy department at Slagelse Hospital is seeking an occupational therapist in a temporary position for 37 hours per week as soon as possible and until 31/12 2026 with the possibility of extension.
The application deadline is as soon as possible and interviews will be held continuously.
Your new colleagues
You will meet 14 dedicated occupational therapists – including one chief occupational therapist, three lead specialists, and a clinical instructor. In addition, one medical secretary.
As an occupational therapist you will perform outpatient specialized rehabilitation of hand surgery patients. Your patients may present with fractures of the hand, forearm, and elbow, tendon lesions, crush and nerve injuries, amputations, and other complex hand injuries.
On a busy day it is important that you are adaptable and can keep an overview – even when today’s bookings must be changed urgently. You work precisely and efficiently in your documentation and are eager to contribute to the further development of the specialty.
We use systematic competence development in the form of skills stations and competence cards.
Your primary tasks will be
- Assessment of the extent of the injury and the training potential
- Rehabilitation of the lost functions
- Activity trials
- Assessment of the need for rehabilitation after discharge from hospital
- Issuing training programs
We are working on developing
- Competence profiles for all staff
- The good patient pathway
- Skill stations as competence development for all staff
To succeed in the position you are expected to
- Be a professional and clinically skilled occupational therapist
- Have an interest or experience with hand surgery
- Be eager to work with acute patients
- Contribute to a good working community and work environment
- Be fundamentally positive, and see opportunities rather than limitations
- Thrive in an unpredictable daily life
- Reflect on your own practice and wish to develop personal and professional competencies
- Have good communication skills
- Have good collaboration skills – and be a team player
We offer a workplace with
- Thorough introduction to your new workplace and tasks
- A good work environment based on respect for each other and mutual help across occupational therapy
- Engaged and professionally skilled colleagues
- Professional sparring with colleagues
- Professional development
- High degree of interdisciplinary collaboration especially with hand surgeons
- Great autonomy in task solving
- Opportunity to share experience with occupational therapy students from ABSALON in Næstved
Your working hours are from 08:00 – 15:00 with one day a week until 17:00. There are no weekend shifts in this position.
Do you thrive in an environment focused on high professional standards and good well-being?
“We are a dynamic group of 4 occupational therapists who find it exciting and developmental to work with new surgical techniques and training methods, such as early mobilization, joint mobilization, acupuncture, GMI, and ultrasound scanning. We collaborate and spar with each other and have a close and equal collaboration with the hand surgeons. Our workday is very varied and we have a strong influence on planning – just as good well-being and humor are in focus every day.”
Your new workplace
Occupational Therapy at Slagelse Hospital is part of the department: Medicine 3 Physical Therapy and Occupational Therapy, Central and West Zealand Hospital – and works continuously on improvements and quality every day.
