About the job
If you want to help reduce homelessness by ensuring focused stays at Østervang, and you are a trained occupational therapist, you may be the one we are looking for. We are looking for a colleague who can work purposefully, has a flair for relationship-building and wishes to work with socially vulnerable and homeless adults with serious social problems such as addiction, crime and mental illness.
About the job
Support and Housing Clarification at Østervang is part of the Center for Acute Intervention and Bridging. Our core task is to alleviate existing homelessness and prevent renewed homelessness for socially vulnerable adults. We work to identify the causes of homelessness, explore development possibilities and assess resources and support needs under the Social Services Act §§ 110 and 107.
Together with the citizen, we develop a targeted plan for the stay with the clear goal that the citizen as quickly as possible obtains suitable housing with the appropriate support. Our aim is that the stay under § 110 is short and targeted. We do not take responsibility away from the citizen, but support the citizen in managing their own resources and opportunities.
The department consists of 44 § 110 care placements, of which 16 beds can be used flexibly with § 107. The flexible § 107 placements are for citizens who cannot have their needs met with a § 110 stay within a 90-day frame or who already occupy a § 110 place, but where the citizen's challenges mean that the citizen needs a longer stay with a thorough assessment and thus referral to housing with support or a residential facility.
What will you get?
You will have an exciting and varied daily life with skilled and engaged colleagues. The team consists of 16 multidisciplinary and engaged employees – occupational therapists, social workers, pedagogues and social- and health care assistants. We work across professional boundaries, but focus on maintaining specific mono-disciplinary competencies in daily work. We are a department where we help and support each other and place high value on social cohesion and well-being.
What will you do?
Your main task will be to support the citizen's path out of homelessness to suitable housing. You do this in close collaboration with the citizen, your colleagues and partners. You must identify the citizen's resources and support needs and assess how these affect the possibilities for a future housing solution. Your primary tools are observations and conversations, which you must translate into a written assessment of resources and support needs as well as help the citizen to obtain and maintain housing with all that it entails. Since the citizen group changes over time, you will regularly start new cases.
The everyday life is characterized by both domain-specific and operational tasks as well as interprofessional sparring. You must be able to act in both planned and unpredictable situations and work professionally with behavior and conflict management so that the citizen is supported in maintaining their stay and moving on in life.
Why choose us
Working in a care home is both meaningful and unpredictable - no day is exactly the same. We have a really good sense of community where we recognize and value a high level of professional competence and greatly appreciate your professional and social engagement. We have a strong focus on a healthy, safe and secure working environment in an informal setting with good collegial cohesion, and we believe we achieve the best possible quality in our work when we help and support each other.
You will have ample opportunity to develop yourself – professionally and personally. We work from a mentalizing and recovery-oriented approach, and we are currently implementing the LA2 method as a common professional basis.
Your shift pattern
Your working hours consist of alternating day and evening shifts and working every 4th weekend. All shifts are from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m.
Your profile
We are looking for a colleague who is a trained occupational therapist, preferably with psychiatric experience, and who
- Has knowledge of working with citizens with complex problems and experience in ensuring continuity in the effort, among other things via action plans.
- Has a flair for written work and sees it as a valuable element in your professional practice.
- Wants to work with shorter pathways focusing on assessing the citizen's resources and challenges and creating a basis for the citizen to obtain suitable housing.
- Motivated by delivering results, persistent and focused in your work regardless of challenges.
- Can work independently, prioritize the most important tasks and have an eye for quality in task execution
- Is aware of their area of responsibility and contributes to a coherent effort for the citizen in collaboration with colleagues and other authorities.
- Can navigate an environment where conflicts arise, and where your ability to de-escalate conflicts is crucial.
- Is a team player who actively contributes to discussions with a focus on professional sparring and has a fundamental belief that we achieve more when we work together.
