About the job

Are you interested in health care and public financial management, then you have the opportunity to become part of the team that manages Herlev and Gentofte Hospital's total budget of approximately DKK 6 billion.

We are looking for a new colleague in the Budget Unit to drive the financial management in our new Department for Patient-Centered Health, as well as the finances that fall under the Health Council Copenhagen Outer North area. It would be an advantage if you have experience with financial management from a current or previous job, but you can also be a recent graduate with a desire to work with public finance.

As a finance consultant in the Budget Unit you will be responsible for the financial management of the new department in close collaboration with the department’s management. In the Budget Unit you will have 20 skilled colleagues who are passionate about delivering solid financial advice and sparring to the hospital’s departments and management. In bullet form we work particularly with:

  • Budgeting and budget follow-up.
  • Financial management at department level.
  • Strategic advice and sparring to department leaders
  • Preparation of decision proposals to the executive management on financial topics.
  • Optimization and development of shift planning.
  • Preparation of financial management information.

The Budget Unit is part of the Support Area Finance, Data and Planning, where we are a total of 44 employees. We attach importance to a good working environment with an informal tone of voice and a good mood.

Position contents

You will primarily work with budget follow-up, analyses and controlling of the Department for Patient-Centered Health and tasks derived from the health reform. The budget relating to your area of responsibility is DKK 420 million. Since the department is new and will only start operating on 1 January 2027, the first period will be a startup phase that requires the will and ability to build close relationships with the employees in the new department who are engaged in financial tasks.

There is also a need to prepare analyses and notes that can support the department leadership’s and the executive management’s decisions in the area, including in the Health Council area. In the long term, cross-wide tasks in the financial area at hospital level or tasks derived from the Health reform may also occur.

You will report to the unit head in the Budget Unit and in your daily work you will collaborate broadly across the organization. That means with managers, executive management, colleagues in administration as well as financial staff at other hospitals and at Regionsgården.

Our expectations of you

We expect you to have a relevant educational background. Experience from the health care sector would be an advantage, but not a requirement. You should have a good numerical understanding, be meticulous in your work and be able to present financial issues in an understandable way. Whether you are a new graduate economist or have many years of experience with public finance is not decisive. If you are a new graduate we will provide thorough training.

We are looking for a colleague who is interested in public financial management, is service-minded, has a generally positive approach to tasks and contributes with good collegiality and good humor. Therefore you should:

  • Be able to work independently and results-oriented
  • Have good collaboration skills
  • Possess a well-developed analytical mindset
  • Be interested in numbers/finance and be good at communicating this
  • Write well and be able to convey and navigate with different recipients, e.g. the hospital’s executive management and department leadership.
  • Be prepared for a busy daily life with many balls in the air and varying priorities.
  • Have an interest in contributing to the department’s well-being
  • Have an eye for cross-disciplinary collaboration strengthening the core task

We offer

The position is full-time with a 37-hour work week. We have flexitime and the possibility to work from home once a week. You will be employed either under the collective agreement for academics employed in regions, etc., or under the collective agreement for administrative and IT staff, etc. Your primary workplace will be distributed between Gentofte and Herlev hospitals. Some meeting activity at our locations in the Health Council Copenhagen Outer North area can also be expected.

If you want to hear more

You are welcome to request additional information from Budget Chief Mogens Mosegaard Nielsen at 3867 2192 / [email protected] or Finance Consultant Peter Bengtsen at 51337616 / [email protected]

We need your application no later than the end of 1 November 2026. Interviews will be held in weeks 46 and 47, and we expect the position to be filled on 1 January or as soon as possible thereafter.
