About the job

Finance Assistant for the Environmental and Waste Sectors

There is a lot going on within Nature and Environment, and the same goes for the Waste area.

On this basis, we are looking for a skilled finance assistant for a joint position between the two departments. These are areas regulated by extensive and complex legislation, and there are areas that are financed by both taxes and tariffs. This sets high demands on the employee we are seeking, as you must ensure an overview and legal compliance in the way Odsherred Municipality manages and administers the finances within these areas.

The position is in principle a full-time position, but Odsherred Municipality is open to flexible employment terms. It is anchored in the Department of Waste & Road Maintenance, but the task also includes solving financial tasks for our Nature and Environment department. It is therefore important that you thrive with multiple and varied tasks in both areas, and that you enjoy working with managers and colleagues from different areas. Your supervisor will be the head of the Waste & Road Maintenance Department.

The position includes a broad range of tasks in both the development and management of budgets and finances. Especially in the waste area, there is a lot of data processing, and it is therefore a prerequisite for filling the role that you have both talent and interest in handling, analyzing and presenting data from different platforms.

Job content

In Nature and Environment, some of your primary tasks will be

  • Review and assess annual reports for waterworks and pumping stations.
  • Control of accounting compliance with accounting rules.
  • Assessment of budgets and basis for calculations.
  • Calculation and control of operational and capital contributions.
  • Assessment of accumulated liquidity and investment plans.
  • Control of compliance with the self-restraint principle.
  • Calculate the burden distribution between consumers.
  • Advice and dialogue with local boards.
  • Approval of sewage tariffs
  • Administrative tasks related to dikes and pumping stations

In Waste and Road Maintenance (the waste team), some of your primary tasks will be

  • Data processing and analysis of data from household collected waste
  • Participate in operation optimization calculated based on data
  • Prepare and project budgets based on data
  • Adjust for price changes continually in contracts
  • Get acquainted with relevant legislation affecting the finances within the area
  • In collaboration with the recycling stations' financial function, manage finances aligned with the producer responsibility scheme.
  • Verify and book invoices etc., mainly related to household waste collection
  • In addition, various ad hoc tasks may occur in both areas.
  • The position is versatile and provides both the opportunity for independent task responsibility and close collaboration with colleagues in the Environment and Waste Team.

Your profile

We are looking for a colleague who has

  • a relevant economics or accounting technical education.
  • relevant experience from similar areas, preferably in the municipal sector
  • strong demonstrable competencies in analyzing, processing and presenting data
  • skills in project work
  • knowledge of the environmental and waste legislation
  • good communication skills – both orally and in writing
  • strong IT skills, especially Excel and Teams. Familiarity with RenoWeb and SB Sys is an advantage
  • a structured and holistic approach to task solving
  • desire for a job with a lot of variation
  • good collaboration skills, and the ability to work both independently and in teams
  • a healthy amount of curiosity and a proactive approach to task solving

We place great emphasis on your ability to read, understand and translate legislation on the environment and waste area into practical, operable solutions, and contribute to the development and implementation of these.

As a person you are

  • independent, a good colleague and a good team player
  • motivated to work with future-oriented solutions in the waste area
  • good at researching and incorporating experiences from others
  • used to working in a politically governed organization and to aligning expectations, delivering on time and ensuring backing from both management and staff
  • collaboration-oriented and good at navigating between different areas of expertise
  • attentive to both the big picture and the details

We offer

You will have your daily office space at the Town Hall in Højby, where we have flexible workstations.

Odsherred Municipality has a local agreement on flexible working hours, which allows you to plan your work time over the first four days of the week and take Friday off. The agreement also provides the option of home office. The framework for flexibility is agreed with the department head and must be compatible with tasks and daily operations.
