About the job
Would you like to work with financial risks, capital and supervision in a strong professional environment?
Do you have an interest in financial institutions, financial risks, analyses and regulation? Do you want to work closely with Danish financial institutions' business models, capital requirements and risk management? Then perhaps you are the candidate we are looking for as an associate in the Office for Supervisory Oversight of Small and Medium-sized Banks (MIPI1).
As an associate in MIPI1 you will be part of the Danish Financial Supervisory Authority's work with supervising Danish financial institutions. You will be responsible for your own tasks, professional sparring and the opportunity to develop yourself in a strong professional environment with great societal importance.
The position is particularly relevant for you if you have an economic background and a few years of experience from, for example, the financial sector or an authority.
Who are we?
We are 17 dedicated employees, who are primarily economists and lawyers. We are responsible for supervision of Danish smaller and medium-sized financial institutions. We also have responsibility for selected rules on capital, capital adequacy in the lending area, solvency needs and securitisation.
The office is divided into a team with responsibility for financial institution supervision and investigations and a team with responsibility for regulation and the capital area
We work together across the two teams through joint tasks, professional sparring and knowledge sharing. In addition we conduct inspections together with colleagues from our other office for supervision of financial institutions (MIPI2) and skilled specialists from the Financial Supervisory Authority's various specialist departments.
Your tasks
As an associate you will play an important role in the office's ongoing supervision of small and medium-sized financial institutions. You will prepare assessments of financial institutions' significant risks and you will join inspections.
Your tasks may include
- prepare risk assessments of financial institutions
- analyze financial institutions' business models, risk profiles and earnings
- assess significant risks and governance, e.g. credit risk, capital adequacy, solvency needs, risk management and compliance
- process applications, e.g. for reduction of the capital base and for management's suitability and integrity.
- participate in investigations and inspections in financial institutions
- analyze and report on various issues and risks
You will have your own areas of responsibility, and the tasks will be tailored to your qualifications, experience and interests. In time you may become institution head for selected financial institutions or investigation leader, you may also become a specialist within one or more risk areas.
What do we expect from you?
You have a relevant academic background, preferably as Cand.Polit., Cand.merc., Cand.oecon. Cand.merc.aud., Cand.merc.jur. or another relevant economic or financial education.
It is an advantage if you have a couple of years of relevant experience and if, for example, you have worked with economic analyses, financial statements, capital conditions and risk management. It is not a requirement that you have previously worked with supervision.
We place emphasis on you
- have an interest in financial supervision, financial institutions and regulation
- can work analytically with complex issues
- work in a structured, independent and quality-conscious way
- take responsibility for your tasks and ensure progress
- communicate clearly both in writing and verbally
- thrive with collaboration across disciplines and teams
- are results-oriented and contribute positively to the community
- can and will make an extra effort when necessary
- are prepared for 5-10 travel days per quarter in connection with inspections in Danish and possibly North Atlantic financial institutions
What can we offer you?
We offer a job with exciting and societally relevant tasks, where you gain insight into banks' risks, business models and regulation.
With us you get
- responsibility for your own cases and the opportunity to shape your job content
- good opportunities for professional and personal development
- a strong professional environment with focus on quality, collaboration and learning
You will be based at our headquarters in Christianshavn together with the Financial Supervisory Authority's ca. 450 employees.
