And it's not every day that we are looking for an educator on Læsø

But right now we are doing.

One of our skilled pedagogues has moved to other work within the house, and therefore a place has become available in our community.

We are looking for a pedagogue who wants to be part of the students' day both at school and in the SFO. Someone who can stand in the middle of the teaching together with the teacher and create participation opportunities for the students, and who later in the day can be the adult who helps a play get started, resolves a conflict or simply sits down and listens.

A pedagogue's working day here at Læsø School and SFO can be difficult to describe in a job advertisement. The advertisement does not tell about the child who just needs an adult by their side to dare to join the community. About the small conversation in the hallway that makes a bigger difference than you first think. Or about the afternoon in the SFO, where there must be room for activity, concentration, movement, imagination and sometimes just to land after a long school day.

That is also where pedagogy lives.

A small school, but a big task

Læsø School is the island's only school. We have about 110 pupils from 0th to 9th grade and an SFO.

Here there is a short path from idea to action, and when you are a small school, your contribution becomes visible. Your ideas can become reality, your responsibility can be felt, and you are missed when you are not there.

We work closely across disciplines and in teams. We have Presence, Professionalism, Sustainability and Community as our common compass.

For us, school and SFO are not two separate worlds. The children are the same, the relationships follow throughout the day, and therefore cooperation between teachers and pedagogues is important.

Is it you we are looking for?

You are a trained pedagogue and would like to work both at the school and in the SFO.

You know that relationships and structure are not opposites. That children need clear adults, but also adults who dare to be curious about what does not immediately make sense.

You know that sometimes it takes courage to stand firm and other times just as much courage to change course.

You don't have to be the one who speaks the loudest. But you must be someone whom the children want to come to, and whom colleagues want to think aloud with.

You take responsibility, collaborate generously, and know that children do not necessarily have to do the same to be part of the same community.

And you may also have a sense of humor. Because although we take pedagogy seriously, we do not always need to take ourselves so seriously.

Choosing Læsø

Daily commuting to Læsø is not realistic. It sounds like a practical piece of information that belongs at the bottom of a job advertisement. In reality, it means that you are not just seeking a job. You also take a stance on a place and a everyday life.

It requires a bit more, but maybe it also gives a little more.

Because everyday life is not just something to get through between weekends. It is where we live our lives.

Perhaps it's not every day that you consider moving to an island, and it's not every day that we search for a pedagogue.

Perhaps that's why we should talk.

The practical

The position is a permanent full-time position with start date 1 January 2027 and with duties at both Læsø School and SFO. Salary and employment terms follow the applicable collective agreement. A children's certificate will be obtained before employment. In your application, we would like you to consider that the job and everyday life take place on Læsø.
