About the job

Are you ready to transform an art collection into a fascinating story? Are you excited to engage school classes and younger children as well as adults in art and culture? Museum Ordrupgaard is looking for tour guides/educators who are passionate about giving our visitors excellent experiences.

About the position

At Museum Ordrupgaard you will be part of a team where learning and teamwork are at the forefront. We value an environment where good collegiality and engagement form the foundation. Your working hours will vary depending on bookings, with the possibility of conducting 1-3 tours per week – sometimes more when we are busy. A fixed remuneration is paid for each tour and teaching program.

Please note that a criminal record and child protection clearance will be obtained for all tour guides/educators.

What we offer

  • Good opportunities to apply your professional knowledge in practice
  • Opportunity to gain experience in communicating to many different audiences
  • A unique chance to work with Museum Ordrupgaard’s exclusive collection, spanning French and Danish art from the 19th century to international contemporary art and architecture
  • A varied daily routine with fantastic colleagues in an engaged working environment

About you

You are a recently qualified art historian or a student in art history or a similar education and you want to delve into Museum Ordrupgaard’s collection of French and Danish art from the 19th and early 20th centuries, in addition to Finn Juhl’s House and the park’s contemporary art. There are also tours of the museum’s changing international exhibitions. You are ready to convey art-related material to a diverse audience and are happy to lead tours in both Danish and English. It is an advantage if you also speak a third language such as French, Swedish, German or something else entirely.

Experience with guiding or teaching will be a big advantage, but we are happy to train you if this is your first job as a guide.

About us

Museum Ordrupgaard is a state-established art museum beautifully situated in green surroundings in Charlottenlund. Our collections include masterworks across 19th-century Danish and French art, with particular emphasis on French Impressionism and Danish artists such as Vilhelm Hammershøi and L.A. Ring. The museum also has a strong architectural profile with Finn Juhl’s House, the Zaha Hadid extension from 2005, and Snøhetta’s newest addition from 2021 – all only a 30-minute journey from Copenhagen Central Station.
