Organist (30 hours/week) sought for Brøndby Strand Church

A position as organist for 30 hours per week is available to be filled as of January 1, 2027.

As organist at Brøndby Strand Church you will have a varied daily life with a wide spectrum of musical and church-related tasks.

Your primary tasks will include

· Musical participation in services (every 3rd weekend)

· Participation in a substitution scheme together with the church's other organist

· Musical accompaniment at liturgical ceremonies

· Devotions at nursing homes (once a month)

· Baby-singing sessions (32 times a year)

· Ulvetimen (8 times a year)

· Church, chicken and crafts (4 times a year)

· Community singing

· Leading Strand Choir (currently a 3-voice women’s choir)

· Other tasks by further agreement

We expect that you

· can provide good hymn accompaniment for Sunday high masses and the liturgical ceremonies.

· are keen to play both classical and rhythmic hymns.

· can work with choirs at several levels, both adults and children, as we would like to develop the church's choir activities.

· can accompany congregational singing for young and old on the piano/fortepiano.

· have ideas and will help to (further)develop the church's musical profile.

· can and will collaborate, both with the organist colleague, the priests, the other staff and the parish council on the use of music to proclaim the gospel and create community.

· can see the necessity of being able to address different groups, both in terms of age and interests.

· is an approachable and welcoming person who likes Brøndby Strand and its residents.

Brøndby Strand Parish has just over 14,000 inhabitants, of whom about 4,000 are members of the Church of Denmark.

There are 2.5 priests employed at the church, 1 sexton/PR officer, 1 church-cultural worker, 2 church wardens, in addition to 1 organist/bell ringer and 4 professional singers. The parish is characterized as a western suburban parish with many population groups.

The organ in Brøndby Strand Church is a Poul-Gerhard Andersen organ from 1984/190 with 35 stops distributed on the main manual, swell manual and pedals.

Salary and terms of employment

Employment is with Brøndby Strand Parish Council located at Brøndby Strand Centrum 90, 2660 Brøndby Strand.

The employment of a church musician will be covered by the Common Agreement between the Ministry of Finance and the Central Organization of Civil Servants of 2010 (CO10 common agreement) and the organizational agreement for church functionaries with core duties as respectively sexton, parish helper or church musician and the accompanying protocol for church musicians.

Employment of a qualified organist will be covered by the Agreement between the Ministry of Ecclesiastical Affairs, CO10 – Central Organization of 2010 and the Danish Organist and Cantor Society (DOKS) for organists.

Current civil service employed organists have the right to preserve their civil service status upon employment with direct transition. In that case, the position must be classified.

The annual salary for a church musician is agreed within the interval of 333,747.51 – 475,590.07 DKK (current prices). There is an on-call commitment to the position. The on-call allowance amounts annually to 27,641.26 DKK (current prices). OK allowance of 1,082.22 DKK. An agreement on placement in the salary range is reached between the parish council and the Danish Church Musicians Association before employment.

The annual salary for applicants with a church music master's degree (DOKS) is negotiated according to the new pay/AC scale. That is a gross salary between 363,168.70 – 442,528.78 DKK per year (current prices). There is an on-call commitment to the position. The on-call allowance amounts annually to between 46,726.59 – 72,572.63 DKK (current prices). Placement and on-call allowance are awarded according to seniority.

The annual salary for applicants with a degree in organ and choral conducting (formerly PO organist) is negotiated according to the agreed basic pay step system. Basic step 1 amounts to 350,435.39 DKK and basic step 2 to 368,188.95 DKK per year. Placement is determined by seniority. Additionally, by local negotiation, qualification and function allowances may be provided. The on-call allowance amounts annually to 29,665.65 DKK (current prices) for service at 1 church.

The salary and on-call allowances are prorated in accordance with the position's appointment fraction.

There is a probationary period according to applicable rules, and references and a children's background check may be requested upon appointment.
