Organist in Astrup and Rostrup Pastorate, Hadsund Deanery, Aalborg Diocese

We are looking for a skilled organist in full-time position (37 hours/week) from 1 December 2026, who can help create worship services with musical variation within both classical and rhythmic music, and develop music and song offerings in the parishes. You should enjoy meeting people, have flair for a broad choir involvement, and an interest in the liturgy of worship and a sense for both tradition and renewal.

We want

· a person who will participate in the parish community in the parishes.

· an organist with understanding of the task as a country church for everyday life and festive occasions with a focus on the core task. We must speak into people's lives in language, form and music and make the Gospel relevant and present for all and everyone.

· an organist who will play both rhythmic and classical music on organ, piano and possibly other instruments, so that communal singing is accompanied in the best possible way.

· a church musical expert who has a sense of balance between aesthetics, perfection and the art of the possible

· a choir conductor who will lead and develop the parishes' choir work and involve the choirs in the church's other life – and venture new and unconventional paths where needed.

· an employee who will participate in constructive collaboration with the parishes' other staff to develop church, culture and music life.

Little about us

We value communal singing. We sing both old and new hymns – and at a brisk tempo. We are never afraid to sing from the Højskolesangbogen or similar for religious services if there is a wish for it. For 10 years we have sung from “100 Hymns” at every service and now begin the supplement “151 Hymns” to be sung in the congregations. We look forward to this!

There is a long tradition of rich choral work in the parishes, where joy of singing and communal life is the headline. Currently the Church Choir (about 25 adults, three-part) rehearses weekly and performs at several services during the year, and there is a weekly Song Café focusing on joy of singing and sociability. We wish to continue developing the choir work, and we look forward to hearing about your experiences and what you can bring to the parishes.

We are in ongoing development of the church's worship and activity offerings. We must find new ways and listen to the wind of change that captures people – the high mass is only one of several avenues we use. We hold services outdoors, for several generations, on Sundays and weekdays – both afternoons and evenings.

Both towns have active associations, nurseries, and kindergartens. Additionally, in Astrup there is a school for children with extensive general learning difficulties. The church singer in Astrup meets regularly with children from nurseries and kindergartens for singing and movement in the church space, and the organist participates occasionally.

Churches and organs

Astrup and Rostrup lie beautifully in Himmerland close to Mariager Fjord and right next to Rold Forest. Astrup Church is a large Renaissance church from the 1500s and Rostrup Church is from the 1100s. The organ in Rostrup Church is a Brødrene Bruhn from 1967 with 6 stops, 1 manual and pedal. The organ in Astrup Church is a P. Bruhn & Son from 1994 with 18 stops, 2 manuals and pedal. There is also electric piano in both churches.

Relations

You will join a professionally strong and humorous team of staff who cooperate on most things, and who are not afraid to reach beyond their own professional boundaries. We hope you want to be part of it.

There are two priests in the parish (a total of 1.25 positions) who both regularly celebrate high Mass and other services in the parishes. The priests look forward to good collaboration with you on developing worship services and other events. Likewise two church singers who complement each other practically and musically.

There is mutual agreement on relief during holidays, weekends off and non-playing Sundays with the organist in Oue-Valsgård Pastorate. There have also been joint choir projects as well as professional sparring and collaboration.

There is room to arrange your own time, taking into account the fixed tasks, just as we look forward to what you would like to initiate in the parishes that we have not thought of ourselves.

There is good cooperation between the parishes and parish councils in the deanery, and a close and engaged collaboration between the parish councils in Astrup and Rostrup.

It will be the organist's task, in collaboration with the parish councils, to assemble a varied concert program in dialogue with the congregation. We value a varied musical offering also for special services, where arrangements with external musicians are made. This is managed by the organist.

Choir work currently takes place in the Sognehuset Kilden in Astrup, where many other events also take place. In Rostrup there is access to the town's large club house, while there are also events such as a mini folk high school at Astrup Inn.

There are services and social events at the home for the elderly in Arden and the organist also occasionally participates in the confirmation instruction.

You will be employed with the primary place of service in Astrup-Rostrup Pastorate.

There is a requirement to render service at other employing authorities in Hadsund Deanery in accordance with the agreements the parish council has entered/has entered into with other employing authorities.

Cooperation agreement for the organist's tasks between Oue-Valsgård can be seen at www.hadsundprovsti.dk
