About the job
The position as organ consultant in the Diocese of Fyens, Aalborg, Viborg, Aarhus, Ribe and Haderslev is hereby announced with commencement on 1 January 2027. The position is fixed-term for 4 years and expires on 31 December 2030.
The position is a secondary occupation.
Profile
The organ consultant must have completed a church music diploma from a Danish music conservatory or an equivalent recognized foreign degree. The person hired for the position must not have a financial interest in companies that manufacture, trade in, or repair organs or organ accessories.
Responsibilities
The organ consultant's area of expertise is organ matters and other issues of significance for musical practice in churches. The organ consultant shall, upon request, provide a statement in matters relating to the consultant's field. In addition, the organ consultant provides advice and guidance to parish councils and deanery boards that request it.
The organ consultant also participates, when needed, in the diocese's consultant rounds, where we visit churches in the diocese whose parish councils have wishes or plans for a project.
During the consultant rounds, the project is discussed with the parish council, and where the organ consultant applies his expertise together with the diocese's other consultants. Approximately 4 consultant rounds are held per year in each diocese.
Practical matters
As an organ consultant you act as an adviser to the church authorities according to the rules in:
- The Ministry of Ecclesiastical Affairs regulation no. 955 of 6 October 2009 on the church consultants, click here

The ministry expects to adopt the administrative regulations in October–November 2026.
It is important to note that as an organ consultant you must not undertake project design tasks for parish councils within the diocese you are employed in unless the diocese exceptionally approves it.
