Our acute ward has developed growing pains, so we are now seeking new nurses for PAM, Psychiatry in Slagelse

Are you passionate about relationship-building in brief patient contacts? and do you like making a difference for people who are mentally vulnerable and in crisis?

At the Psychiatric Emergency Department (PAM) in Slagelse, we have a department where colleagues help each other and high ambitions to continually improve psychiatric nursing.

We are looking for a nurse for 37 hours, but other arrangements can be made for the right match. Since we are open around the clock, there will be night shifts included in the position. We place strong emphasis on creating a work-life balance in PAM.

We are a department with 35 staff, with several teams attached. Our office is characterized by the multidisciplinary “sum” in the corners. In the corridor you will meet a variety of patients and smiles from colleagues.

You will have two mentors who, together with you and management, will tailor your introduction program according to your experience and competencies.

You will work both in our acute emergency department function and with our inpatients. Our target group is patients over 18 years old, in crisis or acute deterioration of their mental state. Our average length of stay is 1.5 days. PAM patients are usually voluntarily admitted. You will become part of our overall safety in the psychiatry building, through collaboration and alarm runs across departments.

We offer ongoing courses and continuing education to our staff and prioritize bringing new knowledge into our everyday life. E.g. psychopathology, triage training, specialist training in psychiatric nursing, and we are working on including the acute education as part of our offering. You have great influence on your tasks and the structure of your shifts, which are coordinated with your colleagues.

You will become part of Psychiatry West under Mid and West Zealand Hospital

An organization in development with about 520 employees. In the West there are main functions for adults over 17 years within emergency reception, around-the-clock and outpatient functions. Psychiatry West also has special functions for treating affective disorders, traumatized refugees, PTSD and oligophrenia. We have a Fusion Clinic/Steno diabetes-psychiatry unit and work especially closely with Holbæk and Slagelse hospitals.

Psychiatry West has its own research unit with a professor of clinical pharmacology and several PhD students. In addition, we participate in many projects aimed at ensuring closer cooperation with our municipalities and police. We work purposefully to reduce the use of coercion and here collaboration with somatics is also important. Our aim is a psychiatry focused on recovery, involvement of patients and networks, high professionalism, ethics and education.

In addition, there is a goal to create the best possible learning environments for our various training programs for doctors, nurses, social and health care assistants, etc., as well as to ensure a healthy and safe working environment for patients and staff.

Further information

The position is full-time and in mixed shifts. When employed in a inpatient department, you should expect weekend work every 2nd-3rd weekend.

Salary and terms of employment

The position is covered by the Health Sector Employers’ Organization (HTA). In connection with employment in Psychiatry, a reference will be sought.

Starting salary for unionized employees

The region is obliged to inform you about the starting salary for the position. You will be told base salary, centrally set allowances and pension under the relevant collective agreement. In addition to the starting salary, the pay may include any negotiated allowances depending on the position, your experience and qualifications.
