Senior Consultant - Echocardiography, Cardiology Department, Aalborg University Hospital.

Cardiology Department, Aalborg University Hospital is seeking a consultant cardiologist for our echocardiography team.

Are you passionate about the cardiology specialty, diagnostics and echocardiography in particular, and do you want to contribute to and develop the echocardiographic subspecialty with a particular focus on valvular heart disease and interventional echocardiography, it is you we are looking for.

The position is to be filled on December 1, 2026 or by mutual agreement.

The work will include other aspects of the subspecialty with inpatient rounds, outpatient function and cardiology service in our intensive care units.

It is expected that you participate in the department's echocardiography on-call team with on-call duties. Participation in teaching medical students, junior doctors and other staff groups is expected.

Aalborg University Hospital has outpatient services on three sites (Aalborg, Thisted and Hobro). The majority of the function and working time will take place at the Aalborg campus.

• A consultant physician, preferably with a documented interest in interventional echocardiography. Preferably both clinically and in research.

• A consultant who is interested in and experienced with the assessment and treatment of valvular heart disease.

About the Cardiology Department, Aalborg University Hospital

The Cardiology Department provides highly specialized services in ischemic heart disease, cardiac rhythm disorders, heart failure, valvular heart disease, thoracic aorta aneurysms, pericardial diseases and thromboembolism.

The department has one monitored ward with 38 beds. In addition the specialty includes; Cardiac Laboratory, Cardiology Outpatient Clinic, Fast Track Unit and Cardiology Research Unit. We are a busy, innovative and efficient department with about 6,000 invasive procedures, 8,000 hospitalizations and over 30,000 outpatient contacts per year.

The medical staff consists of 6-8 junior doctor posts, 8 consultant positions, 32 specialists, of which 2 are professors. We are organized with four on-call teams; FV and BV, fast track FV and BV and three different consultant on-call services (ischemia, arrhythmia, and echo).

Salary and employment terms

Salary and employment terms as a consultant physician in accordance with the current collective agreement between the Danish Regions and the Association of Specialists. Applicants will be assessed based on seven medical roles.
