About the job
Can you turn members' reality into political action?
The construction and civil engineering industry employs more than 200,000 people and has an annual turnover of over DKK 380 billion. The industry plays a crucial role in, among other things, the green transition, energy supply, infrastructure, housing construction and Denmark's economic indicators.
At DI Byggeri, we are seeking an experienced PA consultant who can spot the political issue in a concrete challenge at a member company. You should be able to understand the company’s everyday life, see when a problem extends beyond the individual company and translate it into positions, policy and action.
A case can begin during a company visit, in a conversation with an industry association or in a new political initiative. Your task is to assess its significance, find the relevant entry point into the political system and drive the work towards a solution.
It will be you who
- develops political proposals and drives initiatives from idea to action
- gets close to member companies and translates their challenges into common political agendas
- follows political processes and assesses what is important, what is urgent, and when a case should be raised
- builds relationships with politicians, civil servants and other key stakeholders
- writes sharp notes, talking points, op-eds and consultation responses and contributes to press, social media and member communications
- drives projects and collaborations with a view to both strategy, progress and the details that can determine the result
You will have a large independent responsibility. We therefore expect you to proactively seek opportunities, bring solutions into play and follow your initiatives through to the end.
You know the political machinery
You have experience with political advocacy from Christiansborg, a ministry, an interest organization or another political environment and have yourself driven political cases or initiatives. You understand how decisions are made, who needs to be involved, and how political opportunities are translated into results.
You do not need to know the construction and civil engineering industry beforehand. But you must enjoy talking to both large and small members and be curious about their reality. You must be able to pick up the phone or visit a smaller company, understand its business and then make its challenge relevant to a civil servant, a politician or public debate.
To succeed in the job you should
- take initiative and create progress without waiting for detailed instructions
- have political judgement and be able to prioritise between opportunities, considerations and risks
- communicate clearly and persuasively, both in writing and in meetings with others
- build strong relationships across companies, politics, civil service, press and the organization
- be able to read political currents and translate them and members’ needs into clear processes
You have a good understanding of Slotsholmen and the political decision-making processes as well as the relationships you can bring into play and build on. You may well have many ideas, but we also expect you to take responsibility for making the best of them a reality.
A team close to both companies and politics
You will become part of the Department of Construction Policy & Communication. The department currently consists of consultants with different levels of experience, as well as a student employee, and coordinates work with construction policy agendas, agenda-setting analyses, advocacy and communication.
In daily work, you will work closely with member companies and the political processes that shape their framework conditions. You will have colleagues with strong professionalism and different perspectives.
We help each other, but also give space for the individual to take ownership and set direction. The ambitions are high, and so is the expectation that you actively contribute to both the results and the collegial community where we are both ambitious and have fun.
