There is a place in Lejre Municipality, a small and active kindergarten with 50 lovely children and engaged adults. Børnehuset Skovvejen in Hvalsø is seeking an educator who can start in November or as soon as possible.

About us

Our staff consists of 5 educators, 2 assistants (one of whom is employed in a fixed-term position), 1 pedagogical assistant and 1 assistant who is training to become a pedagogical assistant, as well as a cook and a manager. We work well and closely together across the rooms. We span a wide age range, from 20 to 60 years. We are all flexible and adaptable, which is also expected of you. We are good at working in a structured way, taking responsibility and giving the children a learning and fun day with plenty of fresh air and movement.

We live close to forest, town and the train station (10 minutes walk).

Our pedagogical foundation

• We have completed a NEST competence development program, which we finished in May. We will continue the NEST work as we think it is a good pedagogical tool.
• We work from the theory that body and movement are fundamental for children's well-being, development, learning and formation.
• We have an appreciative approach to children, parents and each other.
• We work with friendships and communities because we know that it has a great impact on children's well-being to have a good friend.

Community and traditions

We work with communities through traditions that promote the community, among children, staff and parents.

We have a regular shared Friday gathering, where joint ball games are arranged. We organize a common Royal Run, as well as a joint fitness day before the autumn holidays.

For the parents, we organize coffee days, summer parties and Christmas coziness.

Collaboration in the institution

We maintain good staff collaboration by ensuring there is time for preparation and collaboration and by focusing on an appreciative and good way of being together. We work closely and well together and it is important to us that all perspectives are heard when we face a difficult situation, or we need to change our structure. We are really good at helping each other and being flexible. Alone we can do a little, but together we can do a lot and create development and change.

We have a pedagogical day, where there is time to dive into pedagogical conversations.

In addition we have social events where good collegiality is in the foreground.

We are very flexible in planning our meeting schedule so that you can fit your hobbies, pick up your own children, etc. Of course with the small caveat that there must be coverage in the house.

In Lejre municipality, we work according to an annual norm, which means there is time for preparing activities in your team, but also for parent conversations, cross-departmental cooperation etc..

Pedagogical tools

During the year we work with different themes to develop the children. To plan this work, we use a tool called skema til handling (action plan). If we face a problem, for example with a child, a group of children or one of our routines, we use Lejre collaboration circle to find a solution to the issue. In addition we have the opportunity to seek sparring with PPR, which comes to the house once a month, as well as the Early Detecting Team, which comes to the house every 14 days. In parental collaboration we use Our Dialogue as the basis for cooperation.

About you

• You must naturally be a trained educator.
• You must have an appreciative approach to children, parents and colleagues.
• You must be able to facilitate classroom meetings and parent talks.
• You must be willing to familiarize yourself with the principles of NEST pedagogy to create participation opportunities for all children. (If you are not familiar with NEST, we will of course provide an introduction.)
• You must be adaptable and flexible.
• You must be able to see yourself in a small house where we work across rooms and on our own room.
• You have a twinkle in your eye and can see opportunities rather than limitations.

About the position

Currently the position is on one room, together with another educator and children aged 3-5 years. But we are a small house, and we move to where there is a need for us.

Salary and employment

We will discuss the number of hours, but no fewer than 32 hours per week. Please state in your application how many hours you wish to work.

Salary according to the applicable collective agreement. A criminal record check and a child background check will be obtained for the applicant selected for the position.
