About the job

Are you passionate about making a noticeable difference for children and young people who need special settings to thrive, develop and learn? And are you looking for a versatile everyday life where relationship work, structure and recognition are the central focus?

Kathøj Svallerup School is seeking engaged and relationally strong pedagogues. The positions are permanent full-time roles, and we are looking for colleagues who are flexible and have the desire and ability to work with either the early primary or lower primary levels.

About the students and our pedagogical approach

Our students are characterized by diagnoses such as ADHD, autism spectrum disorders and relational disorders. They often carry a range of personal, academic and social difficulties and are marked by previous experiences of setback.

Kathøj Svallerup School works from an environment-therapeutic foundation and an appreciative, resource-focused view of people. We place a high value on recognition, dialogue and safety to give each child the best conditions for well-being and learning. Our goal is to create frameworks characterized by structure, predictability and patience, drawing on methods such as TEACCH, Cool Kids, KAT-box, NADA, riding therapy and more.

About the job

As a pedagogue with us, you will be a central figure in the student’s school day and well-being within an ambitious school and day-care treatment framework.

Your tasks will include

  • Close class-teaming: Together with a teacher you form a fixed partnership around a class team, where you support the students' social, personal and academic progression.
  • Structure, guidance and calm: Create predictable frameworks, shield against overstimulation and facilitate many repetitions with a calm, safety-creating approach.
  • Support for students with low school attendance: A portion of the target group struggles with school refusal or concerning absenteeism. We are seeking a pedagogue who is ready for relationship-building and patient work – including meeting students at home to support them in gradually regaining a sense of safety at school.
  • Interdisciplinary collaboration and parent dialogue: Close collaboration with teachers, psychologists and external partners, as well as a trusting dialogue with our supportive parent community about the children’s lives and development.

Your profile

We are looking for pedagogues who meet the children with presence, professional calm and perseverance:

  • Qualified pedagogue: Preferably with experience in the special or day-treatment field, but most important is your motivation for the target group and your desire to bring your pedagogy into play in an environment-therapeutic context.
  • Calm, empathetic and appreciative: You can read the children’s needs, meet them with mentalizing composure and maintain calm in tense situations.
  • Strong in structure and independence: You can create overview, initiate activities, maintain boundaries and work patiently with repetitions.
  • Strong partnership profile: The collaboration between pedagogue and teacher is the school’s keystone. You thrive in a close interdisciplinary partnership where you spar openly, take initiative and dare to try new approaches.
  • Reflective: You reflect on your own and colleagues’ practice and see supervision and professional feedback as a strength.

Why you should choose us

Kathøj Svallerup School is Kalundborg Municipality’s school and day-care treatment offering with 190 students. We also function as a competence center, supporting inclusion in the municipality’s public schools through courses and guidance in special education tools.

With us you get

  • Close staffing and security in the task: Each class team typically has a fixed teacher and pedagogue assigned to 6–8 students.
  • Professional development: Ongoing supervision by a psychologist, courses in special education methods and targeted competence development.
  • A strong work community: A collegial environment with room to breathe, mutual support, professional pride and space for humor in daily life.
  • Good staff benefits: Including a massage scheme, free coffee and an efficient lunch arrangement.
