About the job

Would you like to be the adult who creates participation opportunities, strengthens the sense of community and makes a positive difference in children's everyday lives?

At Sæby School we believe in the value of the local public school and work every day so that all children thrive, develop and feel that they belong.

We are looking for a pedagogical employee for a permanent position of 30 hours per week with a start date of 1 December 2026 or by agreement.

With us you will become part of a workplace with dedicated colleagues, strong collaboration across disciplines, good camaraderie and an informal tone, where humor is an important part of job satisfaction.

You may be trained as a pedagogue, pedagogical assistant or have relevant experience as a teaching assistant. We especially value your relational competences, your commitment and your desire to actively contribute to everyday life.

About the position

As a pedagogical employee you will be part of the children's everyday life in both school and SFO. In the school part you will be part of the collaboration around a year group in the lower primary, where you, together with teachers and other staff, work to create good conditions for children's wellbeing, development, participation and learning.

In the after-school care (SFO) you will be part of an engaged team working to create a safe, exciting and coherent everyday life for the children. You will help plan and implement activities, but just as importantly you must be able to seize opportunities that arise in daily life and be present in your relationships with the children.

We place emphasis on movement, play, creativity and active communities. Therefore, it is an advantage if you have special interests or competences you would like to bring into play with the children. This could be sports, outdoor life, music, workshop, creative activities or something else.

About Sæby School

Sæby School is a division of Sydskolen with about 330 students from the 0th to 4th grade and about 230 children attached to the after-school program. We are surrounded by forest, beach and good outdoor areas, which we actively use in both school and leisure time, and we have good facilities that support a varied daily life for the children.

We are a school that

  • has a strong sense of community, an informal tone and sees humor as an important part of job satisfaction
  • values collaboration between teachers, pedagogues and other pedagogical staff
  • believes that strong relationships are the foundation of children's wellbeing and development
  • works purposefully to create participation opportunities for all children
  • sees wellbeing as a prerequisite for learning

Our shared view of children is

"Children do well - under the circumstances and settings they are in."

That means that we meet the children where they are, are curious about their perspectives and take shared responsibility to create environments in which each child can succeed and feel like a valuable part of the community.

We are looking for a colleague who

  • has an appreciative and inclusive approach to working with children
  • is relationship-focused and committed to creating safe communities
  • can think creatively and create developing communities for all children
  • thrives in close collaboration with colleagues and parents
  • meets children and colleagues with curiosity, engagement, energy and good humor
