About the job
Would you like to make a difference for children and young people in vulnerable positions? Become a trainer in the Sports Project – a community-oriented and social-pedagogical offering in the City of Copenhagen, which to a large extent works with the special educational approaches into schools.
In the Sports Project we are recruiting several trainers for 9-month project positions as well as maternity cover full-time. We are looking for you who have energy, commitment and a desire to work relationally and meaningfully with children and young people who need support to thrive and find their way into positive communities.
We especially need you if you have energy for social-pedagogical collaboration into schools, since a large part of our work is to support children’s and youths’ schooling. We are seeking trainers for our teams in
- Brønshøj, Husum and Vanløse
- Nørrebro, Bispebjerg and Østerbro
- the cross-cutting school team, covering all of Copenhagen
What is the Sports Project?
The Sports Project is a social-pedagogical initiative under the City of Copenhagen, working with children and young people aged 3–18 – and in some cases up to 23 years. We meet the children and young people where they are: in school, at home, in leisure activities and in the local community. Our approach is resource-focused and builds on activity pedagogy, Low Arousal and solution-focused principles.
We collaborate with both children, young people and their families and support participation in communities in everyday life – in school, in leisure activities and civil society. At the same time we work cross-functionally between the general and special education system and have close contact with teachers, educators, caseworkers and other professionals.
About the children and young people we work with
Our target group is children and young people in vulnerable positions. This can be children and young people who
- are meaning to step away from communities in the family, school or leisure activities
- grow up in homes shaped by, for example, neglect, mental illness, violence or substance abuse
- display behavioral or mental health difficulties such as anxiety, depression, self-harm, ADHD, autism or attachment disorders
- are at risk of crime or exhibit externalizing behavior
A common factor is that they need adults who believe in them and who can help them discover and use their own resources.
Your tasks as a trainer
As a trainer in the Sports Project you will be an important part of the daily effort to strengthen children’s and youths' participation in social and academic communities. You will, among other things
- plan and conduct training programs with individual children and groups – e.g., school classes or year groups
- support children and youths in achieving new skills and relationships through activities and dialogue
- work closely with families, schools, institutions and associations
- be part of a self-managing team, where you collectively divide tasks, hold meetings and handle administrative tasks such as status letters and notifications
The trainings take place out in the city – where the children and youths are. This means you should enjoy cycling – we provide a work bicycle – and be comfortable with a flexible and mobile daily life. You will also have access to our bases at Sundby Idrætspark, Energicenter Voldparken, Hafnia-Hallen and Nørrebrohallen.
Who are you?
We are looking for you who
- have experience working with children and youths in vulnerable positions
- thrive in a daily life with both planned and spontaneous activities
- can work independently and in a structured way – and at the same time be a good team player
- are robust, flexible and motivated by making a difference
You may have a pedagogical education – but most important is that you have relevant experience and a clear motivation to work with children and youths who are struggling.
We see it as an advantage if you have knowledge of
- the special education field and the school sector
- activity pedagogy, sport and movement
- Low Arousal and a solution-focused approach
- child involvement and parental collaboration
- documentation and development work – e.g., to articulate signs of progression
- collaboration with professionals across departments and sectors
Your working hours and framework
The work takes place on weekdays between 6 a.m. and 10 p.m. – often with split shifts, where there may be breaks in the middle of the day. You have great freedom to organize your duties yourself, but it also requires flexibility and responsibility.
You will become part of an organization with around 120 engaged employees, where there is a strong focus on professionalism, methodological development, collegial sparring and collaboration.
We offer
We offer a meaningful job that requires commitment, and where you can make a difference for children and young people. We are a workplace with room to grow, where managers, trainers, volunteers, partners and children, young people and their families meet at eye level. You will have the opportunity to become part of an engaging community where we have high expectations of each other.
Salary and employment terms
These are temporary positions with a 37-hour work week. Some of the positions are project-based with an end date of June 30, 2027, while one position is a maternity-cover with potential for extension. We would like you to start on November 1, 2026 or as soon as possible thereafter.
Employment terms and salary as social educator and caregiver and pedagogical assistant are according to applicable local agreement and the agreement with LFS as well as the principles of Ny Løn. Please indicate in your application which one(s) of the positions you are applying for.
