About the job

Do you want to help make a difference for children and young people in vulnerable positions? Become a trainer in the Sports Project – a community-oriented and social-pedagogical service in the City of Copenhagen, which to a large extent works with special pedagogical approaches in schools.

At the Sports Project we are looking for several trainers for 9-month project positions as well as maternity cover on a full-time basis. We are looking for you who have energy, commitment and a desire to work relationally and meaningfully with children and young people who need support to thrive and find their way into positive communities.

We especially need you if you have energy for social-pedagogical collaboration within schools, since a large part of our work is to support children and young people's schooling.

We are seeking trainers for our teams in

  • Brønshøj, Husum and Vanløse
  • Nørrebro, Bispebjerg and Østerbro
  • the cross-cutting school team, which covers the whole of Copenhagen

What is the Sports Project?

The Sports Project is a social-pedagogical initiative under the City of Copenhagen, working with children and young people aged 3–18 – and in some cases up to 23 years old. We meet the children and young people where they are: at school, at home, in leisure activities and in the local community. Our approach is resource-focused and based on activity pedagogy, Low Arousal and solution-focused principles.

We collaborate with children, young people and their families and support participation in communities in daily life – in school, in leisure activities and in civil society. At the same time we work cross-disciplinary between the general and special education fields and have close contact with teachers, pedagogues, case workers and other professionals.

About the children and young people we work with

Our target group is children and young people in vulnerable positions. This can be children and young people who

  • are in danger of being excluded from family, school or leisure communities
  • grow up in homes characterized by, for example, neglect, mental illness, violence or substance abuse
  • exhibit behavioral or mental health difficulties such as anxiety, depression, self-harm, ADHD, autism or attachment disorders
  • are at risk of crime or display aggressive behavior

What they have in common is that they need adults who believe in them and can help them discover and use their own resources.

Your tasks as a trainer

As a trainer in the Sports Project you will become an important part of the daily effort to strengthen children and young people's participation in social and academic communities. You will, among other things

  • plan and carry out training programs with individual children and groups – e.g., school classes or year groups
  • support children and young people in gaining new skills and relationships through activities and dialogue
  • work closely with families, schools, institutions and associations
  • be part of a self-managed team, where you collectively distribute tasks, hold meetings and handle administrative tasks such as status letters and notifications

The trainings take place out in the city – where the children and young people are. This means you should enjoy cycling – we provide a work bike – and be comfortable with a flexible and mobile daily life. You will also have access to our bases at Sundby Idrætspark, Energicenter Voldparken, Hafnia-Hallen and Nørrebrohallen.

Who are you?

We are looking for someone who

  • has experience working with children and young people in vulnerable positions
  • thrives in a daily life with both planned and spontaneous activities
  • can work independently and in a structured way – and at the same time be a good team player
  • is robust, flexible and motivated by making a difference

You may have a pedagogical education – but most importantly is that you have relevant experience and a clear motivation to work with children and young people who are having difficulties.

We see it as an advantage if you have knowledge of

  • the field of special pedagogy and the school sector
  • activity pedagogy, sports and movement
  • Low Arousal and solution-focused approaches
  • child involvement and parent collaboration
  • dDocumentation and development work – e.g., articulating signs of progression
  • collaboration with professionals across administrations and sectors

Your working hours and framework

The work takes place on weekdays between 6 a.m. and 10 p.m. – often with split shifts, where there may be breaks in the middle of the day. You have a great deal of freedom to plan your own tasks, but it also requires flexibility and responsibility.

You will become part of an organization with around 120 dedicated employees, where there is a strong focus on professionalism, method development, peer support and collaboration.

We offer

We offer a meaningful job that requires commitment, and where you can make a difference for children and young people. We are a workplace with a high ceiling, where leaders, trainers, volunteers, partners and children, young people and their families meet at eye level. You will have the opportunity to become part of an engaging community where we have high expectations of each other.

Salary and employment terms

These are temporary positions with a working time of 37 hours per week. Some of the positions are project positions ending on June 30, 2027, while one position is a maternity cover with the possibility of extension. We expect you to start on November 1, 2026 or as soon as possible thereafter.

Employment terms and salary as a social pedagogue and as a care and teaching assistant are according to applicable local agreement and the agreement with LFS as well as the Ny Løn principles. Please indicate in your application which of the positions you are applying for.
