Skodsborg is seeking pedagogues or pedagogical assistants who, like us, are passionate about making a difference for some of the most vulnerable and exposed youths in the City of Copenhagen.

About the positions

Skodsborg has the opportunity to upstaff with more pedagogical personnel, which means there is more time for the core task. You will function as a contact person for some of the youths and will at the same time be attached to a team of 6-7 colleagues and be part of the other pedagogical operations in the house.

The tasks include, among other things, motivation work, cognitive behavioral therapy, milieu therapy, daily living skills training, written documentation, health-related tasks and practical errands.

You should expect a lot of written work, as we document everything in DOMUS and prepare treatment plans and status letters.

At Skodsborg two working days are never the same. You must be willing and able to work in a sometimes chaotic environment, where you can maintain calm and continue to create safe, clear and caring environments for the youths.

About us

Special Institution Skodsborg is a 24-hour facility for children and youths aged 12-17. They often display outwardly aggressive and self-harming behavior, have complex psychological and psychiatric difficulties and possibly substance and/or alcohol misuse.

The institution has room for eight youths. There are two semi-closed units (in accordance with the Child Act § 61) which can accommodate up to three youths at a time. You will have about 40 engaged employees, distributed among permanent staff, fixed substitutes and temporary staff. The staff group mainly consists of pedagogues, health care colleagues, a social worker and a psychologist who, among other things, support staff with self-reflection and debriefing.

The institution works socially pedagogically, and the treatment work is based on cognitive treatment principles, motivational interviewing (MI) and Low Arousal. We take the individual youth's specific needs and difficulties as the starting point and have a strong focus on cooperation with the youth and the youth's family and/or other close relationships. We always try to avoid the use of coercive measures, but when it occurs, it is done with care for the youth and is something we discuss afterwards and learn from.

The institution is located on Skodsborg Strandvej in scenic surroundings with water in the backyard, the forest opposite and about a half-hour drive from Copenhagen. Organizationally we belong to the Center for Children and Youth in Copenhagen Municipality’s Social Administration.

• qualified pedagogue or pedagogical assistant
• experience with psychiatry
• knowledge of treatment work with youths
• experience with Low Arousal and cognitive milieu therapy
• a driving license for a standard car (this is an advantage, but not a requirement)

Employment terms

Salary and employment terms according to the collective agreement for pedagogical staff. The average weekly working time is 37 hours, and you will enter a shift schedule with day and evening shifts as well as weekend shifts (there are different cycles for weekend shifts; some work almost every other weekend and others every 3rd weekend). Shifts will have varying lengths between 8 and 14 hours.

Employment start as soon as possible.
