Part-time organist sought for two cozy village churches outside Tølløse

Soderup and Kirke Eskilstrup churches are seeking a skilled and engaged organist for appointment on 1 January 2027 or as soon as possible.

The position is basically 16 hours per week with the possibility for individual negotiation of content and scope.

About the pastorate

Soderup and Kirke Eskilstrup are a lively two-parish pastorate in Holbæk Deanery with about 2,400 inhabitants. The parishes are located in an idyllic rural setting with good connections to both Holbæk and Roskilde. There is a joint parish council.

Collaboration at the center

As organist you will be part of a small and dedicated team that works closely across disciplines. The aim is to give worshippers the best possible experience – both at Sunday high mass, the liturgical actions and other occasions where the church forms the framework for people’s lives.

Musical fellowship and freedom

We place emphasis on ongoing and open collaboration between the organist, singers and priest, so the liturgy's texts, mood and music hang together naturally. There are wide horizons within both the classical and the rhythmic repertoire, so the music can contribute to a cohesive experience of the church service or high mass.

We are looking for someone who

• are familiar with the Koralbogen, Højskolesangbogen and newer hymnbook supplements
• are proficient in both organ and piano
• have a desire for and ability to collaborate closely
• think creatively and have a sense of how music and text together can create a cohesive worship service
• possibly are a organ/kirkemusiker student and seek a first job with room for professional development

Instruments

• Soderup Church: Organ by Starup & Søn from 1949 (seven stops, one manual and pedal)
• Kirke Eskilstrup Church: Organ by Poul-Gerhard Andersen from 1975 (seven stops, one manual and pedal)
• In both churches there are also smaller electric pianos

Scope of service

There are alternately high masses in the churches on Sundays. In addition, approximately the following are held annually:

• 22 funerals and burials
• 6–8 marriages
• 10–15 Saturday baptisms

In addition there are three to four community singing events during the year. There are also good opportunities for you to put your own mark on the position and help develop the musical life, whether through an adult choir, other musical activities or good ideas you would like to bring to life.

Worship services and other tasks are agreed in an individual time-frame agreement, which also includes weekends and holidays.

Conditions of employment

Employment takes place at the Soderup-Kirke Eskiltrup Parish Council located at Soderup Kirkevej 12, 4340 Tølløse.

Employment of a church musician will be covered by the General Collective Agreement between the Ministry of Finance and CO10 and the organizational agreement between the Ministry of City, Rural and Church Affairs and CO10 – Central Organization of 2010 for church officials with core duties as sexton, church and cultural worker or church musician and the associated protocol for church musicians.

Employment of an organist with a degree as “Church Musician with Organ and Choir Direction” or an organist with PO degree is covered by the Agreement between the Ministry of City, Rural and Church Affairs and CO10 – Central Organization of 2010.

Organists with a church music specialization bachelor or masters degree are covered by the protocol to the academic collective agreement concerning contractual employment of DOCKS organists and permanent teachers at church music schools, entered into between Academia and the Ministry of City, Rural and Church Affairs.

Current civil servant organists have the right to retain their civil servant status when engaged with direct transition. In that case, the position must be classified.

The annual salary for a church musician is negotiated within the range of DKK 333,748 – 475,590 (current prices). There is a duty to be available to the position. The availability allowance amounts annually to DKK 27,641 (current prices).

OK allowance of DKK 1,082 (current prices).

An agreement on placement in the salary range is made between the parish council and the Danish Church Musicians Association prior to employment.

The annual salary for applicants with a church music master's degree (DOKS) is negotiated in accordance with the new pay-AC scale. That is, a gross salary between DKK 363,169 – 442,529 annually (current prices).

There is a duty to be available to the position. The availability allowance amounts annually to between DKK 46,727 – 72,573 (current prices). Placement and availability allowances are awarded according to seniority. In addition, a qualification and function allowance may be offered after local negotiations.

The annual salary for applicants with a church musician with training in organ and choral direction (formerly PO organists) is negotiated according to the agreed basic pay grade system. Base grade 1 amounts to DKK 350,435 annually (current prices) and base grade 2 amounts to DKK 368,189 annually (current prices). Placement is based on seniority.

There is a duty to be available to the position. The availability allowance amounts annually to DKK 44,944 (current prices) for service at 2-3 churches.

Salary, OK allowance and availability allowance are quotaed in accordance with the position's employment fraction.
