Pedagogically trained youth- and family consultant for relationship work in the Youth Initiative

Who are we?

The Youth Initiative is a cross-disciplinary unit under Children, Education and Health in Sønderborg Municipality.

We work with youths between 13 and 23 years old and their families, often in complex life situations, where the relationship that provides security, a mentalizing perspective and persistent collaboration are decisive for development.

We believe that the best solutions are created together with the youths and families. Therefore we work in a holistic, practice-oriented manner with a high level of involvement. At the same time, we give our employees a great deal of freedom to plan their work and translate their professional skills into meaningful interventions.

Your tasks

As a youth- and family consultant, you will, among other things, work with

• Support and contact person assignments under the Child Act § 32 for youths aged 13 to 18
• Family consultant assignments
• Youth support for youths up to 23 years old
• Supervised and supported visitation in foster care cases
• Cross-disciplinary collaboration with internal and external partners

We imagine that you

• Are a trained educator with experience from working with vulnerable children, youths and families
• Have a strong methodological toolkit and can translate theory into practice, working in a mentalizing, resource-oriented and relationship-based way
• Can build trust, motivate and maintain collaboration with youths and families even when it is difficult
• Have insight into developmental psychology and understanding of distress, mental vulnerability and the challenges that can accompany, among other things, ADHD and autism
• Have experience with conflict management and complex family dynamics
• Thrive in an autonomous and field-based role where you plan your own work day
• Document and evaluate your work systematically and see competence development as a natural part of your working life
• Prefer using creative, practical or activity-based approaches as part of the common third

Practical information

This is a full-time position of 37 hours with start date: January 1, 2027

The working hours are between 06:30 and 20:30 and primarily in the afternoons and evenings. You plan your meetings and appointments in collaboration with the youths and families. Weekend work may occur to a limited extent.

A valid category B driving license is a prerequisite.

Salary and employment terms are in accordance with the current collective agreement between PFF and Sønderborg Municipality.
