About the job

Are you passionate about seeing children and young people grow and develop in music – especially in percussion – and can you, with curiosity and creativity, inspire and motivate – then you may be our new percussion teacher.

We are seeking a percussion teacher for percussion instruction at all levels. In addition to solo teaching, primarily in drum set, the position also includes solo teaching in percussion/keyboards (primarily at beginner level), orchestra teaching of the music school's two percussion orchestras, percussion workshops and concerts – all in collaboration with good colleagues.

With us, music is of course at the center, but it is the people behind the instruments who make the difference. We believe that the best learning happens in a safe and inspiring environment. Therefore we value the sense of community among our students as much as among our staff.

We place emphasis on our students quickly getting the opportunity to play together with others in an orchestra or a ensemble setting, thereby experiencing the joy and thrill of playing with others. We have two well-functioning percussion orchestras at two different levels with a total of about 25 students. In addition, percussion students naturally also play in our bands and in our wind ensembles. We thus have attractive orchestra and ensemble opportunities for students from beginner to talent-line students.

The percussion orchestras rehearse in succession on Thursdays. Together with two colleagues you plan and conduct the orchestra rehearsals and contribute to the orchestras' continued development, focusing on both the musical content and the social relations. The orchestras are one of our flagship offerings. In addition to internal concerts, they also perform outside the school, including at events in the local townscape and at Music School Days in Tivoli.

The group of parents consists of very dedicated parents who contribute with practice support, transport and cake – we cannot do without them.

As our upcoming percussion teacher you will be part of both a percussion subject group and a rhythmic team that regularly meets and develops the areas, collaborates on the subject, orchestras, bands, concerts and joint projects – and you will also be an important part of a large Music and Art School with 1500 active students and 35 teachers.

We are looking for you who have a relevant education in percussion at conservatory level, preferably with teaching experience and a strong appetite for the collective. We emphasize that you are passionate about teaching children and young people and, with curiosity and creativity, can inspire and motivate our students. We are looking for a “we-person” who is motivated equally by the individual paths of the students and the collective path in the music school together with other students and other instrument groups.

Teaching is scheduled on three weekdays (Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday) at two of our centers in Virum and Lyngby. There will be meetings and joint preparation on selected Tuesday mornings.
