About the job
Would you like to help build a bridge to the labor market and find the right match for sick-listed citizens? And would you be part of a strong professional community, where we work purposefully with ordinary paid hours, retention and gradual return to work?
Then you may be one of our new colleagues! We are looking for two dedicated job brokers in the sickness benefit area at the Job Center Svendborg with the start date of December 1, 2026. You will become part of one unified team in the unit, where you work with cases and citizens across the entire sickness benefit area.
About us and our organization
In Svendborg Municipality we believe there is room for more in the labor market. In the sickness benefit area, our primary task is to support self-sufficiency, regular paid hours, retention and partial return-to-work. We believe that everyone can contribute something and become part of the community, and we strengthen citizens' belief in their own abilities and possibilities by strengthening the citizen's agency. We work from our mission to help citizens get into work or stay in work, while ensuring that employers get the skilled labor they demand.
We are one unified unit in the sickness benefit area, which is led jointly by two department heads and two professional coordinators. The unit is divided into two tracks depending on the nature and complexity of the cases:
- Employer track: Focus on early clarification, rapid progression, retention plans and close contact with employers for citizens with shorter or uncomplicated cases.
- Citizen track: Focus on the more complex and/or longer-term cases, where there is a need for interdisciplinary effort and closer coordination.
In both tracks we maintain a professional focus on a trajectory toward the labor market.
As job brokers you work in a single department with cases and citizens across both tracks. In this way we make the most of our combined company network, breadth of expertise and knowledge of the labor market.
About the job as a job broker
The job broker's role is to bridge to the labor market by "standing on two legs"
- Relationship with the citizen: Build a trusting relationship based on the citizen's own job goals. You ensure focus on the citizen's resources, work with CVs and support the citizen in overcoming any barriers that stand in the way of obtaining a job or returning to the workplace.
- Match with the company: Ensure the right match between citizen and company in terms of the citizen's competencies, wishes and any accommodation needs. It requires knowledge of the local labor market, access to a well-developed business network and the ability to set clear expectations with a focus on paid hours, accommodation considerations and gradual ramping up.
The tasks include, among others
- Proactively seek out, contact and visit relevant companies together with or on behalf of the citizen to create the right job match.
- Assist the citizen and the company in entering into concrete agreements (e.g., partial return to work, progression, paid hours or company internship) with regard to both the company's needs and the citizen's accommodation considerations.
- Discuss possibilities with employers and citizens regarding retention and adjustment of work tasks.
- Coach and support the citizen in preparing a CV and a realistic goal-setting toward the labor market.
- Frequent and trust-building contact with the citizens as well as ongoing follow-up at the workplaces.
- Close sparring and collaboration with the authority advisors in the unit as well as with the municipality's central Business Service.
About you
Professional competences
- Experience with company contact and building relationships with the local business community.
- Knowledge of – and preferably an existing network in – the local labor market.
- Interest in and knowledge about the target group of sick-listed citizens – both those who return quickly and those with more complex trajectories.
- Ability to negotiate and set requirements with companies with an understanding of their operations and demand.
- Good written and oral communication skills and strong IT skills (preferably experience with e.g., VITAS and KMD Momentum).
- Familiarity with the disability compensation schemes
- Driver's license category B.
Personal qualities
- Proactive, persistent and creative in spotting job opportunities and accommodation considerations.
- Ability to collaborate across professions with respect for other disciplines and a shared focus on employment and well-being.
- Independent and structured in planning your work week.
- Results- and goal-oriented without compromising service level and the human relationship.
What you get with us…
- A meaningful job where you create tangible results for both citizens and businesses.
- A strong and engaged community within the unit, where we help each other across tasks.
- Close sparring with skilled advisors, business consultants, professional coordinators and managers.
- A workplace with high professional standards, flexibility and room for humor and diversity.
